Most kids who end up at ECNL or GA aren't average in youth soccer. They're basically kids in the top 10-15%, who have a shot at college or higher if they work hard, continue to develop and get lucky injury-wise. Most parents are realistic about their chances but, like their kid, are competitive and want to give their kid the best shot at reaching their full potential. They leave their original clubs because they've in a lot of ways outgrown these places and it makes sense for them to compete at the higher level. Moving also gives them a good test, because elite clubs often act like colleges do in terms of accountability and playing time. At the same time, if they could stay, they would. It all depends on coaching and their original club's level.

Not always and college coaches know to recruit beyond those top leagues ... Kid in this example played at a USYS club that only just joined ECNL RL because USYS's national league has fallen.

The top GA clubs can compete with the best of ECNL. If you take off the top 20 GA clubs though it's a wash between GA and ECRL. But that is also true for the bottom of ECNL.

I want GA to succeed but this reflects a failure to make a clear eyed look at things, at least in DCUM home territory. The top three GA teams are probably competitive with the top ECNL teams in the area, and probably are strong enough to be competitive in recruiting too. But the talent drops off faster as you go down the table.

And in this area at least RL is better largely across the board than Aspire. Top NCSL teams are often stronger than Aspire teams here. Let’s hope there are clear eyed folks doing the long term planning.

my daughters GA team played a U17 ecnl team at Jeff cup. probably 10 girls on the ecnl team had RL jerseys on.

Kind of a lame excuse. It's a giant tournament run by a club who happens to be in the ECNL. But on that note, you'll see how GA vastly under performed ECNL because they tended to place teams by current conference ranking. That didn't work out so well for many GA teams.

Why not place teans using the ranking app? If Jeff Cup wanted close games thats how you do it.

Reality is (as it always is) some teams/clubs will get cakewalks to finals and others will be 100% uphill. Home field advantage so to speak.
