So true 👍
I think they're helping USYS because a lot of elite clubs are trying to keep their feeder networks. It's either buy them out individually OR this new partnership. Too many top USYS clubs went to MLSN/GA the past few years, threatening their pipelines if talent decides to stay where they are at. Our top ECNL girls team in our area is know for college placement, not development. They survive/thrive on their reputation/FOMO alone.
I think you missed the point.
ECNL (and other leagues) just take the top clubs from other leagues and make a travel league. Basically they took the top clubs from USYS back in the day to create a league. Now ECNL wants to work with USYS to create some kind of Frankenstein Uber league. The ironic part is if ECNL didnt exist there would be a single USYS Uber league.
I get that. They wouldn't be trying to do it, if they didn't get threatened by MLSN and GA as a combo, as such as it is.
Whats ironic about that is people's perspective on whos right or wrong is 100% colored by if you have a boy or a girl playing.
What is think is ironic is we have more male and female players than any other country in the world. We also pay more for soccer than anyone else. Yet we dont compete at the highest levels.
Largely because our best athletes are playing other sports
