Agree, it was really bizarre and drawn out. None of it made sense. Why wouldn't Nick just leave.

I would love to see them get Hannah back and stay together, but that's probably a pipe dream. I don't think Luke deserves better--June did the best she could in a terrifying and traumatic situation.


+1 two thoughts on Luke - I think he’s a total jerk for asking June to meet up with her rapist and bring her baby along. As that scene unfolded I couldn’t believe how straightforward his request was - zero recognition that meeting up with your rapist might be a tough thing to do. (And, yes, I know that’s not how June views Nic - but Luke doesn’t know that).

Next - I can’t tell if his acting is horrible or the writing is. All he does is act whiny and simpers.

And, finally, does every-single-show need to start and end with her face.

I think Nick has likely been working with/for the American government for a long time. I am thinking back to his mentor - who was killed in the suicide bombing of the Red Center. I wonder if Nick's mentor was also working for the Americans.

Anyway, I think his motivation is to bring down Gilead/provide intel, which is why he stays. He obviously has a network of people able to provide reporting to him - that's how he got the pictures to Hannah.

I do want to see who his wife is. I hope they don't drop that thread.

I just assumed they met in the mostly abandoned/contested territory along the northern border. That’s where Tuello met the Waterfords before he had them drive north into Canada. It’s where Moira crossed (remember she was walking through abandoned towns?).

Waterford flipped for what, asylum in Canada? And I just don’t get what intelligence he has that will help anyone. Prisoner exchange would have made more sense than informant. It was made clear that he couldn’t return to Gilead and pick up where he left off. Even his “friends” don’t want him back. I certainly see why he decided to flip. He would have a lot of valuable intelligence to give, but it seems unlikely that Canada/international negotiators would have so easily agreed to set him free. How about you flip in exchange for 20 years rather than life, a$$hat?

I don’t think that’s how/when Hot Diplomat would have told them about a deal with Fred. Maybe, but he’s just the messenger of that decision, which would be huge news. He probably wanted to tell June as soon as he heard so she wouldn’t hear about it on the news.

Plus, why wouldn’t Nick flip and defect to Canada? Is it because of worrying about his new wife, is that what the ring thing was about? Yeah, he has a wife he can’t abandon now, presumably.

I don’t care any more about Elizabeth Moss’s face. I thought the catholic school stuff was hokey. The Catholic school raised questions for me. There were American Revolution textbooks in the cabinet. The school was abandoned. Was that supposed to be formerly US/now neutral territory? I didn’t quite get it.

I had the same thought. Despite Janine’s two #girlpower episodes, she has always been the Handmaids who seemed like she most liked the flavor of the Koolaid. She was glowing at Lydia’s praise, not just relieved.


I think Lydia knows that Janine will not survive being a true handmaid again. She also knows that Janine is probably still fertile and Gilead wouldn’t waste her as an aunt. Lydia obviously wants to protect her, which is why I hope that she will try to get her into Lawrence’s house. Lawrence would obviously need to be married, though (speaking of which, how long can a commander remain unmarried?) I think that Janine will want to protect Esther. So fingers crossed that they get placed with Lawrence as wife and handmaid but remain untouched. How long a handmaid is allowed to remain “unfruitful” in a placement I don’t know.

OMG yes, thank you! As soon as I saw that doll come out, my inner sirens went off. Not only does Luke have no reason to trust Nick, but you'd think the Secret Service or whoever would want to examine anything brought back.

I loved this episode and thought it was a really nice bookend to the last episode, especially June's arc this season. I loved how they carried through the theme of pretty much everyone, directly or indirectly, telling June to move on. And how in some ways the story is moving past her. Moira sort of told her that at the end of the last episode and on this one where she says, "Why is all this stuff out?" Meaning all the Hannah stuff.

Lawrence shuts her down directly. Nick is a little less direct, but same. Even back in Gilead, Janine is moving past June to take up a new/different role. Really interesting that she doesn't even tell Esther that June made it to Canada.

I even felt like the bit at the end where June assumes it was her testimony that spooked Fred and that's why he flipped was kind of deliberate - as we are all sitting there thinking, that's not it. And then when she and Luke are having the cry over the photos of Hannah and then he's holding her back from Tuello. It's like everyone else in the story is now at a very different place than June.

Absolutely loved the look on Tuello's face when she is screaming, "I will kill you." And I pictured Moira with a thought bubble saying, "This is why you can't live in anger, girl."
