it's not exactly a mystery. They have huge carryover losses. Just like someone else we all know. The only difference is that they didnt claim them twice.

I like Yates too, but the fight may not be worth it. I think Jones is a good choice too. What bugs me is that no matter who they pick, disappointrd advocates for others will try to tear them down.
Surprising that Patrick is on the short list. The information that came out during the campaign about his potential abuse of power and retaliation related to his brother-in-law's case is troubling, if true.
It should be Yates of this group.
I'd love to see Yates as AG, Vanita Gupta as Deputy AG, and Jones heading the Civil Rights division.

I think it's a bit of a headscratcher as this is not what she's known for, but she's certainly competent and could bring a fresh perspective.

Just remember everyone--Biden needs centrist picks to get through the confirmation process. A plus if they've already been successfully confirmed in the past. He also needs experienced officials to come in ASAP and repair the damages inflicted over the past four years. Fix first, then possibility for new blood to come in. I'm hoping there will be some changes made after the midterms.

Trade policy WONKS knows very much who Katherine Tai is and she is very qualified for this job. She was chief counsel for China enforcement at USTR during parts of the Obama years and she won at least two cases against China (as far as I recall) on that front. However, there will be a [small] contingent of ignorant folks on that right saying she is a CCP implant/China lackey by virtue of her skin, name, and ability to speak Chinese.
I know who she is. I also know that she's a policy first person. I like this pick for a variety of reasons but the main one for me is that she's new and not a political hack.
