Now do it with the economy. Maybe the open it up with continued social distancing and good hygiene crew realizes there are families who haven't gotten a paycheck in a month, and unemployment still hasn't come, and there's no job to go back to, and future jobs aren't looking optimistic either.

Everyone else is taking pay-cut so it seems only fair.

Then maybe, we will hear a bit more of "let's open back sooner"...

When I think of how loud CS are complaining when the gvt shut down when they KNOW they'll get paid back-pay,
I find the "let's stay close until we find a vaccine" crowd repulsive.

So do we.

Wow. I haven’t seen it quantified before.

Look at what you did MAGAs. You have blood on your hands. Just as much as Trump.

I don’t know of anyone saying to shut down until we find a vaccine.

At any rate you know of we open up before there is testing for everyone and adequate PPE the economy is going to shut down anyway when too many get sick and can’t go to work.

And you personally WILL lose a loved one, you realize that right? Who are you willing to sacrifice?

One of my mother's best friend's died yesterday with Coronavirus. She was in her 80s, lived in New Rochelle, and had serious heart issues, for which she had been hospitalized frequently as of late.

If you are giving me a choice between a woman in her 80s with a serious co-morbidity that was going to kill her within a year and a child starving to death due to lockdowns, I'm choosing the former.

Really, there are children starving now?

Keep the shutdown going and there’ll be. Food bank queues and free lunches at schools

My friend’s 41 year old husband is gravely ill in the hospital. He has no known pre existing conditions. He’s been in a coma for over a week. She can’t be with him, and is home with their young children.
The fact is this virus is like playing Russian roulette. You have no idea how your body will react to it.

The federal employees - rank and file, not the White House employees that are making $200k+, all have built in pay cuts in the form of job security etc. Asking them to take paycuts is silly. On the open market, they would be making twice what they make in the public sector. Also, their taking paycuts doesn't do anything to move the needle with respect to deficit and debt. Cutting an airplay from the pentagon, or even resintituting taxes to where it was under Bush/Obama would be bigger. But Trump has gutted the federal infrastructure and the tax codes are consolidating wealth in the 1%.
