Guess you don’t expect a tax refund.

A tax refund is an interest free loan to government. Bad idea. If you were smart, you adjusted for that and kept your own cash throughout the year

I wrote *you* because I owe money.

And you aren't very good at calculations, most people aren't, you will owe penalties.

No, I won’t! I have been paying estimated taxes every quarter. I have extremely complex taxes. I have a CPA who does my taxes.

He mentioned this the other day. Claims he can declare an emergency and then use military funding on the wall. So why is the government shut down if he doesn't need Congress to fund the wall? This is one heck of a slippery slope. At that point, the President can declare anything a national emergency and spend military funds on it.

I think he is going to do it.

Well a lot of people aren't "smart" as you put it. They depend on their tax refund. They actually use the tax refund as a sort of forced savings. Most people, if they have an extra $50 in their check, spend that $50. You can call them not smart if you choose but what I'm telling you is a fact. It's great that you have the ability to save like that but majority of people do not and depend on their tax refund.

The tax refund represents the largest financial transaction as well as the high water mark in checking of the year for most people.

So it was an empty promise, much like "keep your doctor" and "save $2500 in premiums."

We have to go with what we have now - an uncontrolled border by which millions of illegal aliens have and will continue enter our country. The cost to Americans is great, and it's time to at least slow it down. Right now, the population is at least 10% illegal. We can't absorb any more.

You trot this out every time as if there is any sort of equivalence with the 8,000 lies Trump has told.

Who's this "you"? You think I'm the only one who has brought up how Obama tricked people into voting for him?

Obama didn't trick anyone. The ACA was vetted over months (and the idea floated for years). It was voted on and passed. There was no hiding bills, there was no lack of hearings, there was no question what was in that bill. Was it flawed? Yes. Even Obama said it was a starting point. But instead of fixing it, the GOP wasted years and many votes (40?) simply trying to repealing it. If there was interest in fixing it, they could have tried that approach. They didn't.

You may not like Obama. And I don't really care either way. But, the man is a decent person whose platform was well known and out there for anyone who cared to know what it is. And, that ONE single "lie" that you cite is literally a drop in the bucket compared to Trump's daily lies. And lies on matters of great importance. So, yeah, it's not the same thing.

Please. The architect of the plan said straight out they deliberately lied and had to because the American people were too stupid to ‘get it’

WaPo is reporting that the White House's "new offer to end the shutdown" is $5.7 for a steel barrier and $800 million for other border stuff. Can anyone explain to me what makes this a "new offer"? I literally don't understand, it sounds like they are using the word "barrier" instead of "wall" but otherwise asking for MORE money.

Why would the senate do that?

Make no mistake. This is a power struggle. The wall is secondary.

Oh no. Did he give you the bad feels? Poor snowflake.

No, he resulted in my loss of affordable insurance that covered everything and forced me to buy a plan that costs twice as much for much worse coverage.

Triple here. Yup

Last Jan, Dems offered Trump 25bil Dems offered funding for a border wall in exchange for DACA protections for Dreamers.
Trump agreed.

The FC opposed any path to citizenship and the deal ended.

Republicans then had 1 full year of full control: WH, Senate, House. In that time, no bills were passed to get Trump his wall.

3 weeks ago the Senate unanimously voted to fund gov at current levels.

Then Trump scuttled that.

From the beginning Trump has not been reliable. At this point it’s up to the Senate to either pass the House bill with veto proof majority or keep Gov closed.

I don't believe that for one minute. It may have been more expensive for a DIFFERENT plan that had aspects in it that you think are worse. But the plans are generally more expensive b/c they have more requirements in them for coverage.
No. The ship on affordable insurance sailed long before ACA. I’m happy my friends and family can actually HAVE insurance now.
