I am sorry if my post implied that I thought just because STA was single sex there would be bullying. That is not what I think, nor meant to imply. However, when you read literature on boys and their social environments you learn that they attempt to create social heirachies within the class and attempt to create a pecking order, which once established has the effect of decreasing aggression amongst the boys. (See Michael Thompson). If some of the "normal" social tendencies with boys go arwy, then how is it handled? Another parent who has a child at Mater Dei told me that anyone who strikes another child or intimidates another boy is sent home in a Barwood Taxi-- that is their way of handling such behaviors. So I am wondering what discipline strategies STA has in place should such an incident occur?

Anyone know the admissions rate for 9th grade or have any tips on applying for 9th grade? Any feedback on the 9th grade visit day in terms of how much is shadowing and how much is interviewing?

For C Form, most non-Beauvoir boys are from public schools. Concord Hill seems to place at least one boy per year. Otherwise, it seems random.

Is St. Alban's the first choice for most people with boys?

I can't imagine that it's that high. After the Beauvoir boys are accepted, there are maybe 20 places left (and perhaps fewer) in the 4th grade class. A 40% accept rate would mean they get only 50 applications from outside of Beauvoir for fourth.
