No it doesn't help. This talks about recruitment of elementary-aged kids....in Virginia! !!!
And the thing is you posted the same link on another thread and you got called out on it.
Here you tried to do the same thing.
You apparently didn’t read the article, it talks mostly about MoCo - but interviews a gang task force person from NoVa.
It mentions the case of the 15 year old from MoCo who was found murdered in Springfield.
NP: Article summary --
1) The article talks about gang activity in MoCo county and does mention recruitment in schools-- focused on Gaithersburg
2) The NOVA task force person makes it clear that the problem is also in Northern Virginia
3) The person implies that areas with high Latino populations are particularly vulnerable
My takeaway: Latino families should be concerned about gang recruitment in predominantly Latino areas in the DMV area; everyone else, no.
So you think the only thing to be concerned about is recruiting? Not the increase in violence and other issues that are related to gangs?
The poster didn't say that. But I'm sure you agree that it's a far tougher road for a Latino to navigate high school keeping clear of MS13 than it would be for an anglo kid. For a Latino, the danger of gangs is much higher, not just from gangs themselves, but from authorities who are far more ready to believe you are in a gang simply because you are Latino. For an anglo kid, the danger of falling victim to gang violence is much lower. That doesn't mean it's not a concern, but there are degrees of risk.

Um. Did you read them before making this statement?
Yes, I did and a slew random articles on MS-13 activity in the US is hardly evidence of a local epidemic.
The title of this thread isn't gang activity at Montgomery country schools and the poster failed to provide evidence for gang recent incidents at MCPS. They did provide a lot of info about MS-13 in the US in and in the mid-Atlantic region but that's not on point.

Please stop trying to pretend that there are not gangs in Silver Spring, Wheaton and Gaithersburg. There was a rise in gang activity in 2017. They are recruiting in schools. Its a big problem that MCPS does work with police with try to do what they can at the local school level. MCPS and MD want higher graduation rates in the DCC so they are loathe to actually expel gang members from the schools.
Its a serious problem for kids and teachers in those schools. Pretending they don't exist so you can talk more MC white people into your neighborhood doesn't resolve the gang problem that is getting worse not better. We know Latino parents outside Silver Spring who will absolutely not consider having their kids apply to the Blair magnet because they are afraid of their kids being targeted by gang members.
