PP nailed it on Kate having bypass surgery. Interesting twist, and I hope they keep the struggle there. I'm sure they will, it won't be an easy fix for her.

I think the breakdown between Randall and Rebecca is one of the saddest moments I've watched on TV. I may be too vested in these characters but I'll be crushed if mom and son can't reconcile.

Oh good grief. Kevin's not "racist." Honestly, the way that word is thrown around these days is so tiresome. He was the sibling who felt he didn't get as much attention as the other two (though I think that was just his perception - he had two very loving parents). Kate always had weight issues and Randall never felt fully he fit in due to not only his race, but also his superior intelligence. Kevin resented all the attention they got, especially Randall. He didn't dislike Randall because he was black! I'd argue that Randall grew up in a much more loving home than many people; he certainly wasn't lacking for love when he married his wife!

Agree. I was wondering if they have the adult actors do the scene first so the teens can observe the exact inflections and mannerisms, etc. Great casting.

I would like to see more of the three together as well! I also want to know more about Kate's distance from her mom. Looking forward to tonight's episode.

so funny you mention this. currently bingeing the americans. i was a little younger. but i have a pretty good memory and i haven't seen any missteps w/time in the americans yet. well maybe some dialogue but i can ignore that a little easier. i point out brands like cheer detergent "elizabeth does a lot of laundry" and tab. bleh. my mom used to drink that crap.

I think it's fine as well to pick up on the small details. I used to watch Mad Men years ago and they were able to get it right; no different really for This Is Us.

i don't think the PP was obsessing at all over the tupperware. i mentioned it right off to my husband. he was like how do you know? i KNOW tupperware. my aunts and grandmas used to have tons of it and host parties and that looked wayyyyy to modern.
