I’ll post some findings in a bit when I’m done having lunch. But so far, this looks like a demographic change/aging population/fewer kids issue vs. a “people aren’t coming to school because of the fear of immigration raids” issue or whatever Reid wants to claim so that they can continue to claim the same amount of school funding/taxes for fewer students.

Across the division if you compare September 2025 vs. September 2024 it appears there are more students in grades 4, 7, and 9, and fewer students in every other grade. Overall they down over 3000 students since September 2024 and over 4000 students since June 2025.

If there are fewer students, they will probably say the population is needier (although that's open to debate, as the biggest decline in enrollment this year is Hispanic students, who tend to be higher needs) or that they have to make up for a loss of federal funding, and they still need more money from county taxpayers.

Don't know about elementary schools, but at the high school level it's clear the schools with higher FARMS rates have seen a drop in enrollment, while the schools with lower FARMS rates have held steady.

And you don't need to add up the demographics tab. From the school profile page at https://schoolprofiles.fcps.edu/schlprfl/f?p=108:8, under "Division Schools" choose "Membership History" and you can get membership numbers without adding.

Will Thru adjust its proposals to reflect the latest numbers, or shouldn't it do so? If not, they should go ahead and release the revised maps now and not wait until Friday evening.

They really should take the new numbers into consideration. Lewis is now down to 1540 total. Taxpayers should not be funding any new additions until all capacity in the county is taken advantage of.

That's not how this works. You can't send a bunch of kids from the western part of the county to Lewis. Also, Lewis loses 300+ kids a year because they pupil place out for languages, AP and the STEM academy to other nearby schools. Fix that and the school isn't under-enrolled anymore.

DP. They could move every kid zoned to Lewis back to the school and it would still be under-enrolled, but agree that they can't really just move kids around to fill vacant seats wherever they are located. The commutes would be ridiculous.

Can someone post a link? Thanks!

Look for the link to "Monthly Membership Reports" at this site: https://www.fcps.edu/about-fcps/leadership/district-performance-transparency/student-population-reporting

You can find the September 2025 enrollment numbers for the division, region, or individual schools.

Where are these posted? On each individual school profile page or somewhere else?

Just cut out the Pupil placement. Why do both Lewis and Edison have IB? They are so close.

With this thinking they will issue these new boundaries and then turn around a month or two later and say nevermind here are more changes.

Don’t forget that they also want every MS to be an AAP center so that will mean boundary changes down the road at schools like Carson, Franklin, and Rocky Run.
