While both of us were wearing summer/fall 2025 Ralph Lauren. And we released the footage, with a 'teachers' caption, the day before my boyfriend's American Eagle 'back to school' ad.
Americans are hopelessly gullible.
You’re gullible if you believe they didn’t have a private engagement before this. He didn’t just roll up with that ring, this was made for mass consumption and more likely than not wasn’t even the real proposal. But, why are you so mad about it? This is what they do.
So it was fake but it was fake for the fans? Why? To milk fans and make money? But I thought they were both so rich, they don't have to fake or do anything for money? These are two soulless, scheming, money-grubbing celebs. I think both of them have sold their souls and are so far gone they don't know what is real, what is fake. Their life is a simulation at this point.

And yet people are gobbling it up and angrily defending it as though it is real. I mean look at this thread. Some people are pointing out that the pictures, timing, and the announcement itself all appear to be very contrived and fake. And the response is "No they aren't! This is true love! You're just jealous." But even if these two people really do love each other and there was some heartfelt proposal that was private and none of us will ever see or hear about, the version the public is being presented is fake. And likely a cash grab.

Do you know anyone completely caught off guard by an engagement and didn’t have a clue? Input in to the ring? Maybe new to get their nails done and makeup right for the inevitable pics after? Come on.
DP but this is precisely why the genre of "surprise" engagement photos/videos is lame to me. It's 2025. Unless you are super young or an idiot, no one is getting engaged without having discussed it with their partner, even worked out some of the logistics. Sure, there may still be a formal proposal, but in this era, it's always people suspending their disbelief a bit so that he can "ask" and she can "say yes."
But when it all gets posted online with photos and shocked faces and him acting relieved... it just all seems extremely fake to me. It also feels really regressive, because I think it plays into this idea that men need to ask women to marry them so that women can be "selected" by a man which is supposed to validate their worth for society. This is a very old idea that is still kind of burned on the back of our brains even though it runs counter to how a lot of us talk about relationships and marriage. When people create elaborate proposals and document the whole thing and post it all online for others to look at, complete with the woman looking shocked by the whole thing ("who? me????? omg!!"), I think it's a way of shouting to the world LOOK AT ME, A MAN DEEMED ME WORTHY. Seeing that from Taylor freaking Swift is honestly depressing.
Sorry if this is offensive to Swift fans. I like her music and respect her career, and that's specifically why I'm rolling my eyes here.

I think it'll be avoiding being a "late 30s" 36 year old bride, so she'll want to rush a wedding before December 13, 2025. I can see New England autumn aesthetics or Central Park fall in New York City.

I expect the breakup will be announcement in April or May. Can't wait.
I totally disagree. I think they get married this fall, before she turns 36 in December. Even if this is a charade, I don't see an angle for a breakup next spring. Do you?
Yes. The angle is the whole point of the "relationship" is to sell concert tickets and football merch. There won't be any need for the relationship once he retires.
You said that last season and the season before, too. If it continues, next you'll move the goal posts to they're just together so he can segue to Hollywood, THEN they'll break up.![]()
The reason I don't think it's real is because of how orchestrated everything is. Who has a professional photographers there to document their engagement? That snacks of a publicity setup.
If they actually marry I'll admit I was wrong. And if they don't marry I'll come here and gloat.
Hiring a professional photographer to photograph an engagement has been a popular thing for 5 to 10 years.
