Those surf players are dirty.
Union 2010 parents cry every time somebody touches their baby. Then blame the refs and call the other team dirty. It happened a lot this spring.
Hey VDA parent...Union parent here. Nope Surf is not dirty, whoever said that knows nothing about soccer. We just got manhandled.
Not VDA parent but you do cry every time a Union player is touched. Surf loss is not the player’s fault. Arrogance and lack of respect for the game by the Union coaches.

Now that you've seen what it takes to play at the highest level you'll be chasing it the rest of the time your kid plays.
Now you understand what people mean when they say size and speed alone don't win over tactics, defined set plays, and consistency.
What Surf does isn't magic but they do it very well. They develop players and teams the same way from u5 to t19. Because of this type of training players all know exactly what to do through repetition on the 1st, 2nd, and attacking 3rd.
SD Surf is beatable but you'll never do it with a kickball team. This is because when you play kickball every boot upfield becomes a 50/50 ball. Over time if Surf maintains possession longer than their opponent they'll score because they rarely make mistakes.
SD surf is also a huge club (there really is not an east coast comparison by the numbers) and attracts the best players. Not many of those 2010s started at the U little age, as stated by pp.
PP here. North Carolina Courage is probably as big.
Yes, but SD surf has players moving to their area to play soccer. Families up and move from other states just to play at Surf. It’s not something that happens at the east coast clubs. It’s how SD surf is able to maintain dominance. Attract the best players and coaches, which attracts more of the best players and coaches.

I can't understand why people are fighting over kid's soccer. Let them play. ECNL is the top. Great for the kids that are there. Almost every kid in ECNL will be recruited. Leave the kids alone. They lost. That happens in life quite often for no reason at all. Good life lesson for them but they should not be called out on this or any forum. DCUM is great for area soccer because people can share info about what is happening that would be really hard to otherwise obtain. Let's keep that going and not spend time calling out kids who likely tried their best. See how they respond next season. Cheer them. Stop brining them down. Maybe High School or the older recruiting ages are fair game for this but not 10s and 11s.
People aren't fighting about u13 girls soccer.
They're fighting about the concept of what a top player and winning team look like.
Many on DCUM think that bigger and faster = wins and that there's only so many super talented players (ie watered down). This is not the case. Bigger and faster are nice but tactics, set plays, and consistency will win everytime over kickball.

Better than all 2010 teams around these parts too. National Champs!!

2010 parent here. This thread is off the wall. This post here (above) makes me think that random people are weighing in trying to cause controversy because I was there and no 2011 or 2010 was crying or playing their position the way it should be played. Don’t listen to anonymous people spouting shit that they are not accountable for. Could be anyone behind the keypad, including people completely unaffiliated with the 2010 team. Best of luck to Bethesda 2010s and Arlington 2011s tomorrow. Hope this thread dies…
