It’s his private property.
He is a US Supreme Court Judge.
He is supposed to be impartial.
He is not supposed to flout the rules and display partisan symbols, particularly when he is ruling on cases related to that very issue he has so clearly demonstrated he is not impartial at all, but has a very clear bias in favor of the insurrectionists.
If he wants to express his political views in public, he should step down from the SCOTUS. Until then, he needs to keep his views private, or recuse himself from cases where he has no business claiming impartiality. By flying flags supporting the January 6 uprising, Judge Alito demonstrates in full view of the public that he is not impartial, and therefore cannot be on the SCOTUS.
Correct.
But we’d better vote blue in wide enough margins that the GOP monster is put out to pasture for good.
You seem confused. Alito’s wife, according to the Post, is the person who put up the flag upside down. Alito has no reason to recuse himself and he won’t.
We know he won’t. He is the definition of corruption (second only to Thomas). His legacy is trashed.

So much for the “liberal” media
This backs up everything Alito has said. It was raised as a “symbol of distress” by his wife and the Post realized back then it was a non story. The only thing that’s changed is that it’s an election year.
Yawn.
“A Post spokesperson said in the story Saturday the paper declined to report on the story at the time because it appeared the flag was raised by Martha-Ann Alito—and not the justice himself—and it appeared to be connected to a dispute with neighbors and that it was not clear at the time the argument was linked to politics.“
Yep. So 3 1/2 years later, someone felt the need to make this story political - no doubt because it is an election year.
The original dispute was, in itself, political in nature. She was upset about the language on a political yard sign. She complained to/admonished neighbor and neighbor cursed her out. I’m sorry, but the idea that Mrs. Alito was using an upside down flag to summon aide because she was so distressed over a neighbor calling her a profane word is laughable. She wasn’t asking anyone to come to her rescue. She was making a statement to her neighbors. What do you think that statement was? I think it was “this country is going to hell in a hand basket,” and I think it had a lot to do with not just profanity, but the impending inauguration. You’re welcome to your own interpretation, but unless you know for sure that politics were never discussed between Mrs. Alito and the neighbor, I don’t know how you can completely dismiss any political angle.

He didn't do anything you just described. You're just making things up now.
If a Supreme Court staffer had done what Justice A-hole did, he or she would be fired. If a lower court judge did what Justice A-hole did, he would be held accountable by the Judicial Conference.
If any Executive Branch employee ever hung out a "Stop the Steal" or other pro-Trump flag they would be subject to prosecution under the Hatch Act, likely subject to dismissal and disbarment from Federal service along with fines. It's frankly sickening and outrageous that any other federal employee, like a Justice should be allowed to get away with it.

Justices do not lose their First Amendment rights just because they sit on the Supreme Court. Also, you're making a significant assumption about the meaning of the flags and the intent in their display. Where is your objective evidence that Justice Alito or his wife support an overthrow of the U.S. Government?
