Can’t stand any more of this DEI stuff being front and center and prioritized above personal achievements. Liberals in this arena won’t be satisfied until everything is a pass or fail (already getting there with “equitable grading” starting at 50% even when ZERO questions were answered correctly), no homework, and less and less ways to distinguish high achievers.
I’m sure there will be dismissive replies to this post but if anyone honestly thinks the environment today recognizes high achievers to the same extent as 5 years ago, they’ve either been living under a rock or are in complete denial. Imagine the same trend for another 5 years down the road.
Even for the state legislators? Or do you just mean for the SB/local?
Just SB. Not even other local.

Another Democrat who would vote for Republicans across the board in local. Unless Trump is on the ballot, I would vote Republican in national as well. Hate Trump and his supporters. But if Democrats are going all in on DEI, then I would vote for Trump as well.

I consider myself an independent and have voted for Republicans in the past and probably will vote GOP for clerk, but I can’t vote for someone who lies to voters about their party. “I’m a moderate Republican” would’ve been a perfectly acceptable answer.
She is actually a left of center democrat.
In any other location, or in FFX county 10 years ago, she would have been a middle of the pack democrat.
Like so many people, she is liberal on some things, conservative on others, and right down the middle for most.
Left of center Democrats don’t get endorsed by the Fairfax GOP while they also endorse January 6 rioters
Enough.
This is a discussion about local school board elections, not trump and not that date.
If you want to argue about those issues, go back to trolling the politics forum instead of our important FCPS schools discussions.
The constant deflection is a sign that this poster knows the local Dems have screwed up.

DP
It is a discussion about GOP endorsement. It's all connected.

Perhaps one day that will change.
In the meantime, it’s not unreasonable that a local moderate democrat would get the local Republican endorsement these days.
Lots of people regardless of party affiliation would be dancing with glee to get a board full of moderate democrats.
Personally I vote for the best available candidates, and that’s generally a mix of both dominant parties, though some elections more of one than the other.

There are plenty of moderates. Just because you think “trans people exist and slavery was wrong” is “far left” doesn’t mean it is.
DP. No one thinks that. Nice strawman there.![]()

DP. What are the “moderate” positions on gender and racism?
