Doing damn well in professional sports, entertainment and the arts.

Wanna eject any more than 13% based on racial quotas? No? Why not?

If the admission system is race-blind and based on demonstrated academic achievement, I will “start feeling” (as you put it) the system is finally fair.

If my white child is not admitted, I will assume other students simply demonstrated superior academic performance. And that would be fair. Fine with it.

The admission system is most certainly not going to be based on academic merit. Never had been and never will be.

Admission decisions should not be based solely on academic merit. I have no doubt that HYP receives enough applicants who score 100% on SAT to fill the entire first class. But academic merit is not the only requirement for a successful life. In the sports arena, there are dozens, if not more, of examples with hugely natural talent who never lived up to their potential.

SAT measures how well you take a standardized test. Nothing more.

And it takes hard work and intelligence to be able to score high. Nothing more.

BS. Working hard and being intelligent does not always translate into high standardized test scores.

There will always be those who make excuses for low scores.

All my life I’ve had to work hard and smarter because affirmative action worked against me. Thank you SCOTUS.

Having good grades has never been enough. That is what the people litigating this action never seem to understand. It is the role of the admissions offices to put together a class of talented individuals across different disciplines, interests, perspectives and personalities. They also need people to fill out music, theater, athletics, research and other pursuits. There are TENS OF THOUSANDS of kids who can manage the work who apply but only a handful gain admission. But the idea that the admissions should be based solely on scores and grades in a vacuum is ignorant, lazy and misguided.

It isn't. And, that is not what SCOTUS ruled.
You probably need to read the decision and some of the statements from the Justices.

It is clear racism isn't dead. It is alive and well on DCUM!

You cheapen the word “racism” when you casually throw it around and misuse it.

My guess is you may be the real racist.

Read the thread. Racism abounds. And, unlike many - I don't throw around that word lightly.

That said, I have no problem with the ruling. Race should not be a deciding factor. We are focusing on the wrong damn thing - Asian parents and kids are not the problem! Harvard's race-based discrimination was a solution to a problem that has nothing to do with Harvard. We are deflecting away from the fact that there are systemic inequalities in our public school systems that make it hard for most kids (regardless of skin color!) to succeed. Asians (and other groups - Nigerians) succeed because they've figured out that you can't rely on the shi**y school systems to prepare their kids for higher education and life. It's not a damn mystery why they are successful. We are crabs in a barrel fighting to escape while pulling each other down.

Ps. Stop peddling racist stereotypes that Asians have no personality!

DP. That respondent obviously meant to write “Brabrand” - as in Dr Brabrand, the former FFX superintendent who lead the alterations to the TJ admissions policy because TJ’s prior admissions lead to 80% Asian student body.

There is no way I’m sending my kid to a 80% Asian school, no matter how good it is.

The top schools in this country obviously share my views.

There is a lot more diversity in 100 white kids than in 100 Asian kids.

Whoa. You just like… went there. 🍿

I know. It’s like they really need to post this on their Facebook wall. But they hide here because they are afraid. 🍿🥤
