that statement shows how naive you are. There is a monopoly on youth soccer. If you are not there by 8th grade you are pretty much done for anything beyond club soccer. Just wanted to share my perspective. We’ve been with the club since the beginning, and overall we’ve been satisfied with the club. It hasn’t been perfect and some coaches have been better than others, but none have been bad for my kids.
We’ve seen plenty of families come and go chasing the next big thing, but we’ve stayed, even after my son received offers from other clubs, including ECNL and MLS Next.
To me, that says a lot. The coaching, along with some outside training, has been strong enough to get him noticed and earn those opportunities. He chose not to pursue them because he’s a multi-sport athlete and didn’t want the travel commitment, though I’ll admit he gets the itch every year around tryouts.
Sure thing buddy, keep pumping your chest. Not everyone is in for bragging rights, some just want to play with no intentions of doing it beyond the youth ages. Post your name and I'd be happy to show you offers and resume, couldn't be happier to show you that it can be done. Do you all think that every MLS or EPL player started and played at a pro academy from birth? Some catch on later, some don't want to continue. It's ridiculous to think there is only one path.

the most surprising part of the story was that the kid was still playing Valor and started when Valor was founded which was like 5 or 6 years ago. he must be the only one left.

Well, one of the better boys Valor coaches from our RL team was
Just in the Loudoun coaching slate announcement, now coaching the Pre-MLSNext boys (9v9). So that’s interesting….
I’m guessing the delay in announcing the older boys coaches is because of unexpected departures and/or not having finalized hiring.

Valor top team coaches and players call themselves ECNL, even at the "pre" ages. Some of the kids were kind of obsessed with it, probably because their parents are status obsessed. I am sure this happens at other clubs too. At a different club now and there's less of a focus on who is on what team. The kids on the different level teams aren't bragging or making each other feel bad about being on a lower team. Overall a nicer culture.
