Melania Trump's bright yellow dress has been branded 'ridiculous' by some unimpressed social media users, who also likened her outfit to a banana.
Accompanied by her husband, President Donald Trump, Melania stepped out in an off the shoulder number.
She accessorized the dress with a chunky baby pink belt and huge emerald earrings.
The look failed to land social media users though, who were quick to slate it online.
Taking to X one simply said: 'Melania's dress - not impressed.'
'Melania, what's going on? What's happening?' asked another.
'Omg,' a third posted. 'Melania's dress is hideous! She looks like a giant Easter egg or something in that canary yellow with the purple belt.'
A fourth continued: 'Why did Melania dress like a banana?'
Maybe she’s trying to be a banana because her husband is orange?

When I first glanced at this picture it seemed like the belt was skin tone.

I think it’s the purple belt that makes it look bizarre. Too much going on and I thought column dresses were supposed to be a sleek look.
I love the dress but wish she'd nixed the belt, and that has less to do with the color, or the formality and more to do with the fact that the woman has about a centimeter between her boobs and her hips. It makes it look like her boobs and torso are just one giant entity.

...why is she dressed like the neighborhood pervert
It's a Burberry trench. Love it.
I love a Burberry trench but why is this SO LONG? Is it like the black tie version? I've never seen one longer than calf-length, and it looks terrible. Mid calf would have been fine.

"Melania's hat is not by chance," said Marian Kwei, a celebrity stylist and Vogue contributor
"The hat with the wide brim that hides her face is pointing to a stance where she wants all eyes on her husband and his agenda while here," she added.
I maintain my analysis that to Melania clothes are armour: the crazy hats, the coats, the military style jackets, are all meant to create distance and send a message: don’t touch me.

And I say this as someone who hates the Trump family and everything they stand for.

Tonight at the state dinner, the First Lady wore a canary yellow off-the-shoulder gown with a lilac belt from Carolina Herrera, which she styled with large emerald earrings and a pair of nude, pointy-toe pumps. The label, helmed by American designer Wes Gordon, produces their clothing in New York.
