This is literally the definition of Strawman Argument. Putting another argument in place (winning doesn't matter and nobody should care) to distort the subject of teams that are currently successful.

Sorry, nothing wrong with winning or being a top rated team. I don't quite understand the mentality of questioning teams that are successful.

I can give you an example of teams that play direct Longball (which is kick and run as some like to call it) that are successful like Sweden. Did you know Nuno Espirito Santo plays a direct offense?

So, regardless, win or lose, longball or possession, it's really up to the parent to find the best fit for their DD.

Let's take a look at FCGB vs. Bethesda. Both clubs are taught the same way, overly possess. Bethesda is on a much higher level for one reason only. They draw more athletic kids that are quicker and faster while playing against better competition. Better known as "on field pace of play".

Pace of play is what separates the top clubs/teams from the middle and bottom teams. Like the Bethesda/FCGB comparison, you can take Loudoun and compare them to a similar middle of the pack Longball club/team. Loudoun wins every time because of their athleticism, size and speed.

Longball is a style of play in youth soccer. Obviously many dislike because of the advantages it gives larger clubs. I'm fine with it as they are just playing to win. What matters more is that these clubs are working more on the technical aspects of the game in practice so that they are not left behind when they get older. That is what need a parent needs to be on the lookout for. Proper development in the hopes of being successful on the pitch during games.

Again, there is a clear line between playing to win and being overly concerned about winning. Absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to win. It only crosses a line when kids are berated and belittled for losing. No shame in losing if 100% effort is given.
