The Italian Store is mediocre.

That’s weird. It’s egg, oil and lemon juice. Basic ingredients you eat in all kinds of dishes all the time I bet. And it is oh so good on a meatloaf sandwich!

There is no reason for anyone to ever eat mayonnaise. Most people serve dinner guests portions that are insultingly large.

Yes, this is controversial! Homemade choc chip cookies are pretty much the only thing to spend calories on.
Other cookies do not compare. Sugar, snickerdoodle, peanutbutter? All yuck.

Agree. To the contrary: Cookies other than moist chocolate chip cookies are a waste of calories.

Shut your mouths!

Is there a bad cookie? No. NO, there is not.

Any meat that comes shrink-wrapped at the supermarket.

I took a risk and bought a whole chicken about a week about from Safeway. I opened it, and the smell was unbearable. We threw it out, and our garbage can still smells like it now.

Nasty.

Yes I said it. Fight me.

I wouldn't say bland, but I do find them overly sweet. And they cost more! But I'm the only one in my house who is not a fan.

I find the Honeycrisp to be the only reliably crisp, sweet apple out there. The other Reds seem easily bruised and mealy-prone. I like to my Honeycrisp
sliced with a squeeze of lemon.

Honeycrisp are so pedestrian.

Those who know, eat/bake/wait for Staymens or Winesaps.

Winesaps are too winey! I really prefer Honeycrisp.

DP - Jonathans are THE best for eating/cooking. They used to be easy to find in Indiana (where I grew up) but I haven't been able to consistently get them here.

Jonathans are good, agreed. I grew up eating them in Iowa, but don’t see them much on the East coast.

Got jonathans this year at an orchard in Lancaster. They taste like sour patch kids in a good way. Lol

When do you eat baby deer? Who would hunt a fawn?

Squash/pumpkin/apple pureed soups popular in the fall are so f***ing nasty. They look and taste like vomit with a bunch of sugar mixed in. *shivers*

You've never eaten a proper cantaloupe if this is your real opinion. I wouldn't be surprised, as most cantaloupe you find anywhere is garbage. It has a short season and should never be eaten outside of season.

Yes. DH was like cantaloupe-disliking PP but I helped him see the light

DS didn't like yellow vegetables but loved cantaloupe (and athena melons, which seem more reliably better) and still does. But it is so, so hard to get a good cantaloupe. Most are green and they don't actually ripen after being picked. I read that they way to find a ripe cantaloupe is to smell the stem end, you should be able to smell the fruit (I try to be discreet about this when I do try it). Most of the time you can't smell anything at all. Pretty much it does seem like it actually has to approach fermentation to get sweetness and the right texture--not crisp but avoiding mushy.

Ripe cantaloupe smells like poop to me. I can't even keep it in my house

Oh, for sure. But that’s not a bad thing

Ya'll are eating your pancakes wrong. Spread with natural peanut butter (ingredients should be peanuts and salt and not another thing). Add a slice of bacon. Roll up and eat. Delicious!

That kind of made me queasy. But I hate pancakes.

Several comment about Honeycrisp . . . originally the U of Minnesota held the patent (is that what they call it?) on the honeycrisp and only a few growers were allowed to grow it when it was released. Now they no longer control it, gave it to the public or some such, so any grower can grow them. That could be a reason for mediocre quality.

But I still love a real crisp Red Delicious, sneer all you want.
