Prediction: people will stop being mad at the Langley boundaries and instead whine and complain about all the people in GF who send their kids to private school.
And the school board and Fairfax County will start buzzing about how to block this by thinking they can make public services contingent on public school attendance.
That would be something.
It's always amusing when people admit that they have to force people into participating because they are offering an inferior experience.
Except that hasn’t happened. The county is happy to collect taxes from people who send their kids to privates and save FCPS money.
Things might be different if voters were voting down school bonds or electing candidates who opposed local taxes, but that has not happened. If the next School Board were to follow an aggressive agenda of favoring lower-income schools over schools elsewhere in the county at every opportunity, you might see more voters turning their backs on FCPS or looking to split the county into two or more separate jurisdictions.

Well people in this demographic don't even care about what she's in favor for regarding schools. Even millennials without children don't care. That's the hard part here. There are thousands of voters this just doesn't impact. It sucks but it's the truth. My parents live in a neighborhood full of people 70 and up and I promise you they could care less about this stuff. Now maybe if people really campaigned and explained these issues but even then I'm not so sure.

I don't think most people have even seen a photo, they just voted the ticket, which is their right.

And, FWIW, the candidate running for Commonwealth Atty against the Dem was an Independent. He was endorsed by the former Commonwealth Atty who was a Dem.
NP: Any person who is willing to align with--or be endorsed by-- the contemporary Republic party--which has refused to stand up to Trump's violation of American and democratic norms is a non-starter for me at this point. I previously would consider parties. But this says something far deeper than policies to me--it's about character. (Also, I don't agree with their policies--not favorable to everything of the dem endorsed candidates either--but I think they will better respond to their voters).

Descano was a tax attorney and then worked for an autism advocacy organization. He has not been in the legal profession very long and I believe never tried a case in any criminal court. I assume he was the most liberal on immigration of any attorney the FCDC could find to run.
The FCDC created this which if you compared the legal profession specialties you had 1 candidate you'd not hire as a defense attorney in a high level criminal case v 1 you'd hire in a flash. It's like hiring a team of medical pros specializing in family practice internal medicine v high level oncologists. Or a general practitioner dentist to do reconstructive surgery on your jaw.
We'd rather the entire county go AP. One Fairfax is only applied where and when select politicians choose to apply it. After watching school and board of supervisor meetings I've determined that most members are irrelevant and the county is run by the Lee and Mount Vernon Districts on both boards. Will be more so now that McKay is chair.
Why do 8 BOS and 11 school board members not speak up for their constituents on school facility funding and usage or on county inequitable funding /taxation is a real mystery. It's not even a partisan issue since most of the elected people have been Democrats.

Actually, every single precinct in McLean, whether zoned for Langley, McLean, or Marshall, voted primarily for the Democratic candidates, so you are out of sync. You might move to Great Falls, where there is more sympathy for your griping, but of course you’d have to build several new schools - $$$$.
