Guy is really proving to be a great person.
The one takeaway that I've had from this season so far is that some of these men are just really nice to each other and in touch with their emotions. It has been really endearing to watch those interactions between the men. FAR more interesting than watching their interactions with Joan.

The guys are crying a lot when another guy is sent home. Not crying about leaving Joan. Of course, they spend 30 times more time with the guys than the do with Joan, but we aren't seeing the contestants get hearts broken. They are more attached to male friendship than Joan or love.
Chock is reminding me of Theresa! He's very intense about how certain they are a match. However, there's no alternative interest by Joan like there was with Gerry also liking Leslie and Faith. In fact, we don't hear Joan speaking about strong feelings for any of the guys except a little with Chock. The season seems to be missing any genuine excitement and romantic intensity on Joan's part. I don't know what SHE envisions a relationship to be. I don't know what her hobbies and daily activities would be. Is she still working? We don't know her in any practical depth.
At least with Gerry, we knew he played pickleball and lived at the lake and wanted to go to Italy. He wasn't working.
With Joan, we know only the most surface things: she likes wine and cheese at the beach. She likes Sunday dinners. ...????
She's given a lot of details about her grief journey, but very little about who she is now and how a relationship would work. The audience doesn't have strong opinions about who she should pick at this point because we don't feel like we know the guys or Joan, and we don't see Joan having strong feelings for more than one. So there isn't a big mystery that we want to solve. Just more grief counseling, and some pleasant dates in between.
They are not shopping, she is. Hence, we are not learning about what she would be like as a partner. Presumably, they are interested or they should not be there.
Perhaps she is realizing that the idea of having a partner is more appealing than an actual man, which is far more complicated. Perhaps none of them compare favorably to the love she had.
Are they though? Do any of them actually seem gaga about her, vs. typical male competitive drive to win? I'm not seeing this at all.
All the guys seem more sad that they won't be around the gang of guys anymore vs. sad that Joan didn't pick them.
Again, I say that the producers needed to pick men who already live in the I-95 corridor (NY to NC) so that they can actually contemplate a relationship AFTER the SHOW ends. These guys, with the exception of Chock, are NOT thinking or talking about being with Joan after filming. They are going back to their regular lives, just with fewer daily friends. With Gerry, we knew that he was already retired, and many of the women were retired or semi-retired at 70-ish years old. Therefore, they had the freedom to move if they felt it was worth moving.
Joan isn't 71 (like Gerry). Joan is 61. And some of the guys are in their 50s! I believe Mark is only 57! These people are mostly still working. How invested are they going to be in "winning" Joan when their lives are thousands of miles away from Rockville, Md. With the exception of Chock, the rest are in it for the experience and the socializing.
My take on many of them is that they went on GB to increase their visibility and have more "options" coming to them in the dating world. I'm sure Charles is getting lots of options (although I think he actually went on GB to step out of his comfort zone, not to get dates). Guys like Pascal most likely wanted the publicity and the hope that they would be the next Golden Bachelor. I think Pascal is gunning for that. I could see Jonathan as GB if he didn't have minor children still. Guy might have been a possibility for GBachelor if he didn't have the restraining order issue and if he had more personality. Mark is not going to be Golden Bachelor.... he seems a bit slow-witted. And word on the street from people who know Joan, is that producers told Joan that Mark wasn't going to be picked. Not enough going on. Not engaging enough. That leads me to Jordan -- we haven't heard any dirt on him yet -- and he seems decent enough to look at. We haven't seen enough of his personality, and we don't know his story about a divorce (assuming he's divorced). But, I think he is probably the top candidate for Golden Bach. Charles would be a delight, but I don't know if the producers are willing to go with an Asian guy. Charles won't be single long anyway.

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Jonathon could be the next Golden Bachelor because it would make sense to have an AA person for the next season for diversity reasons …..
Not really necessary since the next Bachelor is AA but I'd be surprised if he isn't under consideration for a future season. Seems clear the next one will be Mark, though I personally find him dull like Joan.
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Huge mistake not bringing the other golden women on. Would have livened up a show that really needed it. Maybe producers were concerned that it would only accentuate Joan's flatness as a lead.
It is weird, isn't it? But I think you are right. Most were much more vibrant, funny, warm, interesting...Joann is a dud and grotesque looking.
Joan didn't stay long enough to form real friendships with the other women, and it's clear a number of them resent not having been chosen. Or felt someone else deserved it more. Might have just been awkward.

Perfectly said. She’s too reserved and not entertaining at all. Still hasn’t gotten close to cracking 100k Insta followers, just a dud.
Her "journey" should feel exciting and it doesn't. Don't know how much is her and how much is the edit, but does anyone really care who she ends up with at this point?
She said on last night's show that the person she would end up with was in the room, but I've been wondering if she will pick none of them and have an "I pick me!" ending.
Did Mark and Jonathan stay as long as they did to help set them up for future Golden Bachelor roles? She and Mark didn't seem to have much to say to each other on their date. It was awkward.
Chock is giving weird vibes, but maybe it's the editing and not the same in real life. I think I'd be avoiding him if I was Joan.
I posted the same upthread. I feel like he just wants to win.
+1. Chock is in competition with the other men. He wants to "win" - not to be with Joan.
Speaking of which, does anyone know if Joan still works at Landon?
