Depends. Freshman? Your statement is very incorrect and there are many girls that don't play much as a freshman but then start to earn more time as they start to develop physically. Juniors and Seniors? There you have some validity but just because someone is not a top 25 D1 recruit doesn't mean they aren't d1. Many lower level d1 caliber players would start at many other schools. Not everyone is striving for top 25 schools.

While most develop in club, those with solid programs have a leg up because of their spring development.

If you are most concerned about having your child at the winningest lacrosse program you should really think twice about your priorities on so many levels.

On lacrosse specifically - go back and read the thread on how HS programs don't matter in college lax placement.

Not a coincidence that they are also the deepest teams with 20+ club players. A lot easier to sub when there lies little talent drop off. Those two schools could field a second Varsity team that would win half their games right now.

Agree. But they also actually develop their talent. They have current starters/contributors that started on JV or were at least swing players. When you go to these schools you know there is a good chance of being on JV as a freshman and that you really have to earn your way. Better to play on JV as a freshman and get actual game time than just ride the bench on Varisty all year.

It’s not uncommon even if it’s not good practice.
