Why should this be general knowledge? Who cares?
That is such a stupid, American thing to say.
Still waiting to hear why this should be general knowledge.
You don't think general knowledge of basic geography should be general knowledge? I stand by my earlier comment.
Korean cities should be part of general knowledge? I don’t really consider that basic geography.
Of course, you don't. Hence my previous comment. The rest of the world gets educated on things like that.
Actually, they don't. I'm european and most people have a euro-centric view that doesn't include Korean cities.
Well I happen to be European as well, and while we mostly had euro-centric education, we most certainly spent a lof of time on world geography. It's a source of pride to be well versed in history and geography.
So you are educated in resort towns throughout the world? How much time does geography class take up if you have to learn not only secondary and tertiary cities in each country, but also ski cities? Do you learn beach resorts too?
Don't know what to tell you. I'm from Sarajevo. I just know this stuff. We had the Olympics in 1984. Most educated people I talk to know where that is. Maybe it's not important to you, but it's more than a ski city or a beach resort.
Good for you. Sarajevo is a historically important city. Pyeongchang is a small city known for a ski hill. Did you learn where people ski in Taiwan too? Did you learn where people in Peru vacation?
DP. Whether anyone knows much about Pyeongchang, it should be obvious that the Olympics were not held at Pyongyang, the capital of North Korea.
You sound as thick as the person from Serevio who thinks everyone in Europe is like them.
Sarajevo, but I wouldn't expect you to know.
Oh thank God you don't expect that to also be general knowledge!
Really? You never learned about the assassination of Franz Ferdinand? Or the 1984 Olympics? Or the biggest war in Europe since WWII (well until Putin invaded Ukraine)?
I mean, ok, but I wouldn't boast about it.
DP.
....we should all know and care because....?
Yeah, don't need to know; don't care.

It is in most countries. What are you talking about?
It's actually not.
In fact, I think there is really only one European country that has it. Most of the countries with birthright citizenships are more developing countries.
There's really not reason for the US or Canada to have it anymore

This is just not true for those with W2 income!
It’s literally true for everyone. You will get way more entitlements over a lifetime than a person on welfare. If you write off your interest on your house, drive a company car, went to college with on the GI bill, lived in a red line neighborhood…. I could go on for pages. You have more entitlement than someone on welfare.
You are an idiot. Also, GI Bill isn't an entitlement. It is an EARNED benefit, as in the pay for military is so low considering many factors, it's a form of deferred compensation. They have to serve to get it.
But everyone who served did not get it. Guess why?
PP: Name-calling, blissful ignorance, and racism are not a good look — especially when you feel compelled to scream about it. DP
Guess why? Because GI Bill details are different depending on your era of service. If you didn't get it that means you likely didn't serve long enough, were dishonorably discharged, or you opted for other educational benefits like existing student loan repayment.
You aren't making any sense.
this post reflects a mind-blowing failure of historical education
No, I thought we were speaking about modern era gi bill. There is no race component today. Sure there were issues with it 75 years ago. But today it is not an entitlement it is an earned benefit that has nothing to do with race.
