My DH’s culture would never allow a woman to pay for a date, for example, and I dated men before him who expected me to split the bill or complained about women using them.

That's a bit of self-selection, given he is an immigrant. Have you ever lived abroad and observed the locals? We are in Europe for a temporary assignment and I have to say people seem nowhere near ambitious as Americans. Literally no work gets done in the summer.

+1 I lived in Europe for many years and Euros in general do not work as hard as Americans (or South Koreans or the Japanese for that matter). They very much take for granted the innovation and medical breakthroughs the hard work these other countries produce despite disparaging them all the time.

Our AMBITION is to not work in the summer. That is the European dream. Sitting by the sea with friends, having a glass of wine. The absolute pinnacle of life.

Have fun chasing the mcmansions!

My brother is married to a woman from Germany and lives abroad. A) she doesn't put up with any crap from him. B) no one blinks an eye that my brother is the primary caretaker of their kids.

She's awesome.

Me too. I am a woman but I would like someone to iron my clothes.

My girlfriends and I joke about needing a wife

I’m a woman and I’ve given serious thought to going the mail order route myself. I can’t afford a full time live in nanny/housekeeper/cook/launderer/errand runner/etc., slavery is illegal, but, same sex marriage is not, soooo….

I’ve got a nice basement flat she can live in. So once she finishes up the dishes and mops the floor, folds the laundry, oversees bath time, makes sure all teeth have been brushed, and lays out everyone’s next day clothes, then she can retire for the evening. She’s off duty until it’s time to wake the kids in the am, enforce tooth brushing, and get breakfast on the table, lunches made before dropping everyone off at school.

As long as she signs a prenup… then I don’t see the down side. I’d divorce her of course as soon as my youngest leaves for college or sooner if she starts acting up.

Totally transactional, she gets a green card and room and board for s few years and I get a relatively inexpensive 24hr domestic.

Win, win.

Make sure to research the Affidavit of Support that you will have to sign as a part of getting her a green card. You can be on the hook for alimony, child support, as well as the cost of any government services your immigrant consumes for decades.

Still cheaper than daycare or a nanny.

This is so demeaning. Surely women offer more than a good body, lots of sex and putting on a smile? Even my husband would agree (maybe would be fine with the sex part haha)
