Why is Kevin living with Kate?? He can afford to rent or buy a place. His sister's marriage is clearly on the rocks and he's not self aware enough to realize living with them is adding to the stress??

Beth has always been my favorite character. Young Beth is perfect casting. Both young Beth and current Beth are fantastic.

I really liked the Thanksgiving episode. I like getting more of the history about Rebecca and Miguel. I appreciated the delicate mother/daughter dynamic. It was a good blend of funny moments and emotional ones.

Thoughts:
I hate couples who snipe at each other in front of other people, a la Toby and Kate. That said, when couples are doing that, don't take sides!

The Toby/ Kate dynamic is completely believable, although the whole Toby absolutely has to be in SF is less believable in our current environment.

My favorite part of the episode was the focus on mother/daughter relationships. So complicated but so fundamentally loving. As a daughter to an aging mom and a mother to a girl, that really hit home.

Kevin has had terrific character development, but he still hasn’t learned to shut his mouth when making snap judgements (the assumption Miguel wanted a guest house for his friends harkened back to Kevin’s assumption Zoe needed a silk pillowcase because she was “pampered”)

Beth can always be counted on the deliver the comic relief

how does one do that? We had an "intervention" in our family for an obese member. It doesn't work.

It’s a sensitive issue, and they understand no one can force her to eat less and exercise. Of course they’re concerned about her health, but what can they do? But unrealistic she’s dropped all concern about it, and it never comes up with Toby other than obliquely like in this episode.

Beth said that in the car. Loved when she muttered that to Deja as well 🤣 she was great comic relief for a heavy episode.

Eh, they're both being unreasonable and unkind to each other.

Mandy was amazing in this episode, Emmy-worthy for sure. I think the show has done a great job of showing the mother-daughter relationship evolve. Of course it's not that uncommon for that relationship to be fraught early on then become very close over time.

Sort of like casting a Hispanic-looking young adult Hayley then a blonde-blue-eyed baby Hayley? Agree they usually do a great job though.

Yes but Rebecca is not conscious, she is on her death bed. I know HW likes every one to think there’s consciousness and something wonderful is said but not in my experience.
