i think this is true. Jews are typically relatively liberal on social issues and so have historically often aligned with the Democratic party, but it's likely most have a red line when it comes to advocacy on behalf of terrorism, especially terrorism focused on the complete destruction of Israel and the elimination of the Jewish religion. Demcratic sympathy for collateral casualties sustained in a defensive war started by Hamas and Hezbollah and the Houthis is fine, but when policy positions amount to giving those groups the opportunity to continue to pose an existential threat to Judaism and to Israel, Jews will side with those opposing efforts to obliterate them. Peace through strength is seen as more of a Republican ideal than the Democratic ideal of peace at any cost through accomodation of terrorist incubators and support systems.
You use terms like “defensive war” and “existential threat” without the slightest hint of irony …
Man, those dogs don’t hunt any more.
DP it is a just war in every sense. As long as hamas holds hostages Israel is justified in taking almost any actions to reclaim the hostages.
One-third of them are dead. This is on Israel, who could have reclaimed civilian hostages the next day.
The hostages are coming back to Israel feet first, sadly. Realistically, not many of them are left alive, and even fewer will return.
The deaths of the hostages is "on Israel", not on the murderous Palestinian terrorists who actually killed them? That's a logical allocation of blame. Let's see: Take hostages, make demands, kill hostages when demands not met = those deaths are the fault of those who wouldn't meet the hostage-takers' demands and are no responsibility of the hostage-taking murderers.

What is wrong with young people protesting war?
They're not merely protesting war. They're supporting terrorists.
A very un-nuanced view. One can oppose the genocide in Gaza AND the actions of Hamas on 10/7. The genocide is ongoing; 10/7 lasted a day. Which should one protest more urgently?
This is war, and those are casualties of war. If Israel wanted genocide, it would have been over on October 8th and it would have lasted a day if that is your metric of justice.
They are waving hamas flags and chanting "from the river to the sea?" That is support of terrorists.
This could be over tomorrow if they released the hostages.
Secondly, what is the Gaza genocide but state terrorism? What was the Nakba but terrorism? What is the behavior of violent settlers in the West Bank, who attack and harass Palestinians, but terrorism. The West Bank settlers are trying to achieve political ends (steal Palestinian land and claim it for Israel, which is all Israel has ever done). That is the definition of terrorism.
There are still plenty of arabs and muslims in Israel, in its congress and on its supreme court.
Where are the jews in the arab nations?
For every palestinian displaced by nakba there is a jew that was expelled from an arab natioin that fled to israel.
The jews didn't flee and not be allowed to return like the vast majority of the palestinian refgugees, the jews were expelled.
I am not arab, muslim, jewish or israeli. But I remember when Yasser Arafat rejected the two state solution in 2000. I remember when Gazans voted for Hamas. I remember when Hamas invaded Israel and abducted its citizens. We cannot in good conscience tell Israel to back off while Hamas holds its citizens.
I don't know of any genocide that lasted only a day. Most go on for years.
Most pro-Palestinian demonstrators wave Palestinian flags, not Hamas flags. Chanting "from the river to the sea" does not indicate support for terrorism but for a Palestinian homeland with pre-1948 borders, which is a valid and understandable aspiration.
Israel could have saved the hostages by now if it had wanted to. By this point, sadly, many will have been killed by Israel (either in bombings or through the deprivation of food, water, and healthcare that all people in Gaza are experiencing).
While there are Arab Israelis, they experience structural racism and there's a very good reason (for Israelis) why they remain a minority.
Jews were mostly expelled from Arab nations after the Nakba, but that is a separate issue. And Palestinians were indeed expelled from Israel during the Nakba. Most did not leave voluntarily. Over 700,000 of them were violently and brutally displaced and evicted. Their land, homes, and possessions were stolen from the them by Israel, their bank accounts cleared out. In many cases, they were forced to march miles to borders, after seeing their homes burned and their family members murdered and raped. They were forced into neighboring countries with only the clothes on their backs. During these forced marches, IDF soldiers stopped them at checkpoints and pilfered the few personal belongings (watches, cash, jewelry) they had managed to carry with them. This is well documented, and there is no way to sugarcoat the Nakba. The IDF and Zionist terrorist gangs massacred thousands, raped women and girls, and even killed children. A country can't perpetrate such horrendous racist atrocities and not expect resentment and pushback.

What about Palestinians held for years on end with no charges in Israeli detention? Do Palestinians have a right to fight for them?
If so, stop crying about 10/7. If not, you’re a POS hypocrite whose opinions and views are trash anyway.
Palestinians held by Israel are held for good and sufficient security reasons. Committing murder to free them is hardly proportional, reasonable, or morally defensible. Israel has a functional judiciary. There are non-violent means to try to secure the release of prisoners. That is not the same thing as necessarily expecting them to be released as long as a sufficient legal basis remains for their continued detention.
You don't know why they are held because there are no charges filed in administrative detention.
Israel runs the court so it creates the judiciary it wants and the laws it wants.
Indefinite administrative detention is legal.
House demolitions are legal.
Absentee Property laws are legal.
Declaring someone a Present Absentee is legal.
Using Palestinians as human shields was legal until 2005.
Building settlements on stolen land is legal.
You have a mind of a slave who worships laws as long as they exist without any thought as to whether they are just. There were all sorts of laws in Nazi Germany. I think you'd fit right in.

But dropping 2,000 bombs, decimating an entire region, and murdering tens of thousands in the process are “non-violent means” to secure the release of the hostages, huh?
Do you have a hypocrisy problem or a cognitive abilities problem?
Maybe actions have consequences, as I used to tell my 3 year old.
