I point to the cautionary tale of Jen with my two daughters (18 and 21) as what happens when you chase money and fame and fake it to you make it and hustle culture and toxic positivity and the next big thing and don't stay grounded and stay true to yourself and your values. So many of their peers want to be famous for famous sake and be influencers and I want them to know that it's a sad dead end.

You forgot to add: her cringey game night and home-renovation videos are not yours, and her obnoxious boyfriend with their fake-overly-sexualized relationship is not yours. But otherwise, yes. All of us can let out a resounding “not it!” and sigh of relief that we don’t have to be shills for a living.

Wow, there are a lot of hurt feelings on this board. Women who probably feel betrayed by Jen because she felt like some combination of a close friend, spiritual mentor, and fave celebrity-comedian for a long time - only to have her über disappointment you when she suddenly (or across 4-5 years) changed her faith, her family, and eventually her entire lifestyle. It has clearly struck some frustration or even fear among people living similar lives to hers. People who don’t want to be where she’s ended up and are possibly wondering if they’ve followed a path of similar destruction. Women who want their marriages in tact and for their kids to give a damn about being productive faithful adults, not just more “spicy” entertainment. Those who want scripture to always be as true as it’s always been. (It is.) And for Jesus not to change with influencer moods (He doesn’t). Yall. Your story is not Jen’s. As multiple pp stayed, she’s a cautionary tale. That’s it. And we can’t fix her. All the speculation in the world won’t undo her mess. She sold all the way out. I don’t know who needs to hear this, but her story is NOT yours. Be thankful for that! Her marriage is not yours. Her faith (or lack of) is not yours. Her children are not yours.
