We had Jill Biden with her fishnet hose and knee high boots.
We had Michelle Obama looking like a school marm in J. Crew.
We had Barbara Bush with her white hair looking 80 years old when she was 40.
We can handle Usha!
Huh? Michelle Obama is up there with Melania and Jackie as one of our most stylish First Ladies. I will give you Jill Biden dressed like shit sometimes (although I think she was well groomed) but come on. To throw Michelle in there with her and Barbara Bush just belies your partisan view.

No. The pleather skirt and heels are not appropriate and I have done plenty of stints defending Usha Vance. She’s not an idiot. She understood serious apparel interviewing for firms and going to events when Chua and the other mofos were helping launch her turd of a husband.
Appropriate dress is in fact a serious part of the VP and spouse job. They do attend so many funerals and make so many appearances with the stated goal of acknowledging tragedy and offering support. It’s an a—-ole move to just fling on anything, especially when it’s not just some cheap drab mourning drag from JC Penney.
There is intent there and it’s hard to not read it as an eff-you from her to people that don’t deserve that callousness.
So, a couple things.
Regarding the part of your post I bolded: That's what's crazy. No idea where the black caplet dress she wore when JD escorted Erika Kirk back to DC was from. But the pleather number to Minnesota was NOT cheap crap from Penney's. It was Shoshanna!
Now, I went to go look on the Shoshanna website to get the exact cost but it looks past season. There's a similar version in navy retailing for about $500. In googling "Usha Vance Shoshanna dress" I found this article:

...Usha HAS a stylist which is truly the most "WTF" thing I have read in a long time.
Would this be the dress?

I'm still not keen on leather or fake leather for a memorial

She used to have an office in the West Wing and now she’s calling Page Six to remind them she went to Casino Night in New Jersey. It’s honestly hard to see her like this. Not really, because I don’t like her and I think she has absolutely no business in government. But still. What a bad call they made.
Seriously. They could've stayed in NY, never commenting on her dad's politics, and would probably still be accepted in polite society.
Page Six describes them sitting at a table with Beyoncé and Jay-Z so they’re already there, with $2B that they wouldn’t have gotten otherwise.
I hate her and usually hate what she wears but that silver dress isn’t bad.
Her proportions aren’t attractive despite the height and thinness. It’s all a mess.
I like the silver dress, though the style paired with the material does make it look very heavy, like chain mail falling off her. But I don’t think it’s very flattering - she has a very long neck, and this just emphasizes the distance between her face and her chest. So basically, I like the pick, just not for her
I like the dress but think it's hung too low on her. I'm not sure if it's because her torso is so long or if it's because her chest is large or what, but it looks off.

Not the PP, but I agree with them. Michelle Obama had some horrendous fashion choices (and some great ones). To deny that just makes obvious who actually has the partisan view.
Her documentary explains that some of her fashion choices (I think the "school marm" stuff) was because she felt compelled to fit in a certain box. She faced a lot of blatant racism during Obama's election/presidency. Just FWIW.
