$1M home isn’t what it used to be. This is in Loudoun county and zoned to mediocre schools. These aren’t rich people.

Schools are closed and local police are begging people to stay home.

Given how dangerous shoveling this heavy snow is coupled with the frigid temps, nobody should feel compelled to shovel…especially if the only people out walking are catering to their dogs or fueling their exercise addiction.

PS - I moved to a neighborhood without sidewalks. All the dog owners are in boots and snowsuits quickly letting their pets do their business in the snow…as God intended.

People who own dogs. People who have to get to public transportation. Eventually, children who have to get to school.

In the fancy neighborhoods the op is talking about, nobody is schlepping to public transportation a day or two after the big storm. And schools are closed.

Nobody should shovel for dogs. Dogs can walk in the snow. And their walkers surely own boots if they own a million dollar home.

If the snow and ice were very obvious, a court might argue the person assumed the risk by walking on it.

Yeah, please stay home or don't walk on sidewalk.

Went out 3X on Sunday and hurt my back, some guy wants $250 to do the sidewalk. I was willing to pay $125, but I don't blame him, TBH.

In our neighborhood, the people with the new, big homes are shoveling out their elderly neighbors.

Hope you’re also not a person who complains that school hasn’t opened yet.

DP here who doesn’t shovel and nope! Teacher here. My kids need a break - HS is stressful.

Some rental property landlords are lazy and just want to collect their rent and don’t care about the law and public safety of others.

Most SFH rentals are maintained by the tenant. It is the tenants responsibility to clear the walkway.

We did it in Alexandria, and we live on the corner so it's double/triple the amount of sidewalk than everyone else. We did it in shifts on Sunday and then again yesterday. I was out with a hammer on that ice.

It's hard to find anyone, we got quotes 200-900 and a lot of times they don't show up especially the lower ones. I laughed at the price gouging email I got about hotels, snow removal is the main culprit.

We own a home in FFX but live in Loudon. The tenants in the FFX home moved out a week ago and I’ve been feeling terrible about the sidewalk at that house.
