I know a lawyer called Libby. She’s very smart and professional. If you’re good at what you do, your name won’t hold you back (at least, so long as it isn’t “ethnic,” since there is proven negative bias re that sort of name).

I love Libby. It has good memories attached for me. Also love Bizzie.

My best friend has a Libby. I don’t love the name but it has grown on me because of this kid.

I love Beth, it’s my middle name (without the Eliza) and I’m from the South so half the people in my like use my first and middle names for me. I’m both Larla and Larla Beth and I don’t care which people use.

I suspect it's because we all had some negative experience with a mean girl named Beth sometime around 1985. Just me?

No, I suspect most of us in the expectant forum were not in grade school in 1985…?

Eliza is a bookworm who wears little house on the prairie dresses and has a sister wives hairstyle, and Liza is a goth girl who claims to be bi but she’s really just slutty.

Libby could be a professor, an artist, or the SAHM with the perfect house. Ditto for Liz.

All millennials should know Libby as the snobby head cheerleader!

Not a knock on the name, I actually love it. But that’s immediately who I think of.

I really like Libby.

I'll just say that sometimes nickname plans don't work out. I have seen a lot of babies just end up going by their given name. Elizabeth is great. My advice in general, is to make sure you love the given name just as much as the planned nickname, and that you don't detest any of the (common) nickname variants.

Congrats!

Liza is super cute. I prefer that to Libby.

Libby is lovely! It’s unique without being wildly crazy, and it’s also very classy/classic.

Libby sounds like a liberal, feminist or lesbian. Could be good or not so good, depending on your politics.
