We were scammed. OP and the post was fake.

Actually it sounds like the friend can't afford it, not OP.

Both, actually, you're right.

I volunteered to split the bill even though you have two kids and I have one, knowing that I would pay more. That was ok. Instead of simply splitting the bill, you insisted on having the waiter divvy out by item, which was a little embarrassing and resulted in me being charged for all three kids' $60 meals. When I noted that I was essentially paying $200 more than you dismissed it. You should have most certainly offered to pay me back. Again, I'm pissed and if not actual money, I am owed an apology.

I love this and, indeed, this is what transpired, but it is likely friendship ending unless the friend is the rare bird who is thick skinned and direct herself. So ask yourself if it’s worth it to you to get back $150.

Friendship ending maybe if you use the word "pissed" a couple of times. That doesn't leave much room for the friend to have made an error or change of heart. You can get this point across just as well without sound quite so...pissy about it.

+2

And I dont understand all the posts where an OP complains about getting suckered into paying for other people.

There was a post in the Teen Forum where OP paid for hotel/food/gas for her kid and 2 others tag-along kids (teammates) so they could all attend out of town sports camp. Then she got upset to not get reimbursed...um, do you not figure this out prior?
Or follow-up?

That's a classic "you" problem, OP. Additionally that person doesn't sound like much of a friend.

Send her a Venmo request 😂 for the fun of it. Better than stewing on an anonymous site.

So you paid $340 for 2 and your friend paid $160 for 3? You should have said something immediately and been more insistent.

Not much to do now.

She could’ve been rude or just slow where it comes to figuring these things out.

You should have used your words on the spot and asked for the correct bill. Why keep quiet just to stew later?

How does a friend flip from being fair to grossly unfair in a matter of minutes? I call troll.
