I dislike all the new phosphate-free dishwasher soaps.

Where can I buy the good old stuff? Still available anyplace?

New formula is horrible! Leaves a lite brown 'scum' or stain on all porcelain and glass (have a look at the insides of your white teacups!)
Is there anyway to get Costco's attention and see if the won't get another supplier to fill their containers for them, perhaps Cascade if what others say on this site is correct?

I am so glad I googled this. ..so many of you have the same problem. My whole cabimet where I store plasticware stinks. Even the lids to the glassware have absorbed so much perfume that it makes the food totally unedible within a couple hours. I had same issue with cascade total purchased from costco right before this one. Now that I figured it out, Can someone suggest another good dishwashing soap/gel/powder.
I use very less amount and it still stinks. While I wrk on getting rid of the smells, need to find another soap too.
Thanks

Oh my gosh I'm so happy to have found this thread. I literally thought I was a crazy person because I stopped bringing any leftovers to work because everytime I would try to eat them they would taste like nasty dishsoap!!! And we've been using the Kirkland dishwasher soap for years. Ugh, I will be purchasing Cascade tomorrow!

YES! We have had the same problem. I threw the stuff out! I had to do a through cleaning which included placing 2 cups of white vinegar on the lower rack. I will not return to Costo Soap until I get a letter from them telling me they changed!

We have used Kirkland dishwasher gel for years. Recently, my husband has been complaining that the glasses & dishes have a soapy smell & taste. He rinses & rinses a glass before he can use it. I kept insisting it was just him, but now that I have read a lot of reviews, I realize he must not be just imagining this! For some reason, I don't notice the taste & I have no complaints about how well it cleans. Now, I don't know what to switch to.

I was wondering why people kept posting on this old thread, but we had the same experience with the new (earlier this year) Costco liquid dish detergent. The dishes smelled and even tasted of it after they switched formulas and it was disgusting. My husband didn't notice it the way I did but he has a much less acute sense of smell than I do. We switched back to Cascade and don't have problems anymore. It's too bad, the Kirkland brand was a good deal but that smell was HORRIBLE.

Just to chime in - we also have really hated the new formula, as has already been stated many times, it doesn't wash the dishes, leaves a film behind, and the food and drink tastes like the fragrance. We switched brands and dishes had to be scrubbed by hand or go through 3-4 additional cycles before that terrible fragrance washed away!

We found out, too late, about the horrors of Kirkland Enzyme based dishwasher detergent. We poured it into our dishwasher's automatic liquid detergent dispenser, after having used a chlorine based detergent, and then we experienced horrible odors, dirty dishes, and a dishwasher that won't drain. We found the dishwasher's tech manual online which contained a warning about mixing chlorine and enzyme based products, because they COAGULATE!!! We discovered a polymer/rubbery film over everything, and the entire dishwasher/filter/pump is a snarly stinky mess. We purged the dispenser, cleaned and suctioned the cloudy water, and cycled the machine with vinegar about 30 times. It is finally getting back to good working order. The Kirkland product is horrid, but even Cascade makes both types of products - you really need to read the labels very carefully! Good luck.

I had the same experience with Cascade so I bought the Kirkland brand hoping for better results - it was just as bad. It all smells and leaches into my cutting boards, plastic lids, bamboo spoons, etc. Very disappointing.

So forget about "squeaky clean" hair.

f your hair is 'squeaky clean' you have stripped it of all it's natural oils. Cosmetics/Hair Care companies have convinced us that our hair should be 'squeaky clean' after washing, to be followed by their new and improved conditioners.

I agree. New smell is horrible and stays on all dishes - plastic/glass. The steam created from the dishwasher while washing also brought on asthma attacks! I returned Kirkland brand and bought Cascade at grocery store. No more asthma attacks, perfume smell is less, but still very very noticeable. Gross!

Awful for my baby's bottles! Glad I found this before I replaced my dishwasher!
