Subject: Do you guys call it “North Bethesda” as it’s own? Or do you consider it as Rockville
This change happened so long ago that it *is* North Bethesda at this point; calling at Rockville anymore doesn’t make sense.
Also, it’s different for single-family homes, but if you live in a condo/apartment, Pike and Rose is in no way inferior to 98% of the options available in Bethesda.

The people who say “North Bethesda” and “North Potomac” and the same people who say they live in “DC”, and when it’s pointed out Maryland is not DC, they say they’re glad because DC is terrible, yet they still identify as DC.

Wait, if Pike and Rose is North Bethesda, and Pike and Rose is north of White Flint, then everything north of White Flint can't be Rockville.

If you want to show that you're OG, call it White Flint like in your ADC map. If you want to communicate, call it North Bethesda like in Google Maps or Apple Maps.

I think of it as a particular part of Rockville. I may say North Bethesda, but I mean, "that part of Rockville."

I agree! As a long time 20852 resident, who pays Rockville City taxes, I cringe when I hear my newer neighbors refer to our neighborhood as N Bethesda.
I also think SoRo (South Rockville) is a good description. We are the southern most part of the City of Rockville, closer to White Flint than Rockville Town Square.
If you pay Rockville city taxes, then obviously you are in Rockville. The question at hand is about the areas further south than that, which are not within city limits.

We live in bethesda near suburban. I call the area north of the giant on old Georgetown through pike and rose north bethesda. I still call the white flint area white flint. Everything north of white flint is Rockville. Like the target I would consider Rockville.

I agree! As a long time 20852 resident, who pays Rockville City taxes, I cringe when I hear my newer neighbors refer to our neighborhood as N Bethesda.

Thankfully I never encountered any of these annoying people on this thread that snort when somebody calls that area North Bethesda. It’s just a helpful way of giving directions at this point. I get that through development trends, there wasn’t a sense of place between Bethesda (inside Beltway) and Rockville proper (outside Beltway). But now there is.

Exactly! The days of North Bethesda being a way for strivers to live in Bethesda are gone. It's just a way to distinguish that area now. My address says that I live in Rockville and I live at least 15 minutes from Pike and Rose. If someone says North Bethesda, at least I can figure out how far it is and it's general location. That area is much different location-wise from downtown Rockville or Aspen Hill or even Twinbrook. Just think of it as a way to make life easier and we'll all be happier.

This. White Flint mall was IN Rockville. You zipped up Rockville pike to go to Rockville to go to the White Flint mall. Anything after that is even Rockville too. Not sure how this is confusing. And White Flint is still a great name for the area. Everyone knows where that is. Where the Dave & Buster's was!
White Flint Mall had a 20895 zip code, which is Kensington.

Lived here since 1975, and 20854 is Potomac.
I live in 20854 and we are considered Rockville. 20852 is better described as N Bethesda so I’m not sure why this upsets people. And my neighborhood, Potomac Glen is actually closer to N Potomac than anything else.
It seems like people want Rockville to be half our county but I don’t understand why.
I also live in 20854 and we're considered Potomac (although I do think this neighborhood was part of Rockville at some point). The zip code is split.
