I lost my usual zest for travel when my DH and, in a separate incident, a close relative had to be medevac'd to the US within months of each other.

East Africa has all the game parks. West Africa does not. I'd never describe West Africa as "better" just different. It's probably appealing to those who want to claim to have done something different and off the beaten path.

Maybe you're working too hard at having fun. Do you do all these activities when you're at home?

How about staying in one place with good views and nice food, and not doing much except swimming, walking, reading or whatever you enjoy. That could be nearby or in another country.

What places do you recommend? I have traveled to West Africa once and it was very slow. It felt like traveling to remote places in the deep South of the US.

I am curious about Senegal but the ohter countries don't seem to offer much beyond eating and sitting on the beach.I am not into hiking or animal sightings.
