He’s not really reading it or paying attention to the information then.

The information is boring, the content is outdated. A book such as Personal Finance 101 will be better than this so-called course. I can't believe they teach this material for the entire year. The course has to be re-written.
It is boring to just stare at a screen and read and listen to the videos. It’s like virtual learning all over again. But it’s a graduation requirement. At least it’s over quickly. They really should do away with this.

Either you’re a kid or a parent. And it should be more effort than checking boxes. Had to do some work to earn your pass.
That said, I bet you can’t skip forward in the podcasts or videos right, they are set up so you can’t speed run them or just click on the end and auto open the exit tickets and exams. How’d I do pretty good eh?
And it’s easy to speed run these things anyway, set to play on separate monitor with video podcast muted and watch YouTube on another screen. Answer the questions when unlocked. Work smarter not harder
But if you aren’t a parent or student, do you know which teachers revamped it, I’m curious who did
I saw on the FCPS website - it just said it was revamped this last March with “updated curriculum.”

Because your child’s counselor is new or doesn’t understand the graduation requirement because they are in fact a moron.
What you read is correct though. And I applaud you for looking that up and understanding what it says. You’d be shocked how many people you can send the exact verbiage too and they say so my kid has to take the wise exam then? Yes your kid who has taken all honors since 9th grade has to take it (ugh).
My suggestion is if your kids righteous smart the wise exam hasnt changed in 15 years so why not take the exam with its 66% passing score where its just a I took it and passed check box and then have it in the back pocket.
The exam isn’t rocket science. I had a kid who barely did any work or come to class finish in 45 minutes and get an 86%, it’s depressing how easy the exam isn’t rocket
Here are the kids who fail wise
1. Esol (usually pass by 4th/5th attempt)
2. Really dumb kids who don’t ever come to class (miraculously pass 2nd try)
3. Self contained sped (and eventually they find a way or get a waiver)
Nearly everyone else passes first try, and those that don’t pass second
The short answer is because my child is a very slow worker (has a 504 and requires extra time on exams.) Most likely he wouldn’t finish in the advisory period and it would take away time from other more important classes. It just adds one more thing to do. My child is also the type that would want to study for the test and over prepare. He wouldn’t want to take it cold right after a vacation. It just seems like a waste of time if it’s not required?
