I'd let it go but I'd never answer another text from then again.

Your neighbors are trash.

I’m shocked that people think it’s ok to ignore because it’s only 30$. First it’s incredible rude not to thank OP for the favor. Second rise not to either pay her back or offer a gift if roughly equivalent or more value. Classy people would have thanked upon receipt and brought a nice gift. If we asked someone to do something like that, we would both reimburse and send a title of wine or chocolates as an extra thank you.

Thank you! It’s common sense, decency, and the right thing to do. I don’t understand why people are like oh it’s only $30, let it go.

OP, did you provide them the receipt? Did they pay you back?

"I hope you enjoyed your trip! I'm glad that you received your Pokemon collection in a timely fashion. Shipping costs were $30. Venmo or cash is fine."

They are likely busy/not prioritizing it and I know for me- I like easy/this makes it easy.

I also think that it's highly income dependent.
If neighbors are solidly middle class (house $1m+ or even $850k+) then they probably assumed you did not want reimbursement for $30.
Even my ILs who are from lower income community I think would assume someone did not want this reimbursement but instead would repay in kind.
It's weird to be hung up on $30 unless you are super strapped for cash.

This. It doesn’t sound like you’re upset about the money. You’re upset that they haven’t shown you any appreciation for your efforts in a way that you think is appropriate. Did they thank you when you said you’d send it? Maybe they thought that was enough and that you wouldn’t be concerned about the money because they wouldn’t be if the tables were turned. Just move on and chalk it up to a lesson learned with respect to your neighbors.
