Ugh. Shopped at Talbots for 20 plus years…sorry quality has gone downhill. 55, shopping at J Crew, MmLaFleur and Nordstrom. Liking what I’m seeing at j. McLaughlin and Brooks brothers but haven’t purchased their yet. Athletic and outdoor wear from Athleta, Eddie Bauer.

Just finished closet and drawer clean out! Feels great!

DC area is pretty conservative fashion wise due to the industry, so no wonder talbot is popular.

I shop at TRR. Returns are super easy and for final sale I buy only brands that I've had before, so I know my size.

And there's a consignment store in my town (not the DMV) that gets great stuff - i probably get 20% of my wardrobe from there, and the stuff I buy ranges from designer stuff for $150 to $6 shirts from junk brands, depending on if it looks good.

Dior--love their bar jackets and a-line skirts. Flore Flore for knits. Levis for jeans. Ferragamo Varas and Oxfords. Max Mara coat. I only own about 30 items of clothing.

There is stuff at Talbots I wouldn't touch. But they also have good classics--and lined pants!--if you scrutinize the listings. This winter they had a great all merino wool skirt, for example, and their cashmere sweaters are quite good quality for the price on sale. I agree with this. I had never shopped at Talbots before September but when I wanted 100% wool, fully lined dress pants, the only ones I could find were at Talbots. The size charts were way off but once I got the correct size, I was pleasantly surprised. Can't say I will be shopping there often but I won't completely dismiss it anymore either.

My mother showed up in a stunning woven dress from Talbots from three years ago, black with a white horizontal line down the front and a little triangle opening high up on the neck, three quarter sleeves. I couldn’t believe it was Talbots.
