The lady in the back row to the left of Leavitt (when looking at the picture) in the short-sleeved white blazer and shorts looks straight out of Dynasty with those shoulder pads. You could plop her in 1983 and she'd fit right in.

I think Bondi looks good despite being a loathsome person. She would probably look better with different hair but the blonde isn’t that bad.

I loathe Bondi but I do like her pink blazer and pin striped shirt ensemble. Who are the other ladies other than Leavitt?

We had Jill Biden with her fishnet hose and knee high boots.
We had Michelle Obama looking like a school marm in J. Crew.
We had Barbara Bush with her white hair looking 80 years old when she was 40.

We can handle Usha!

Huh? Michelle Obama is up there with Melania and Jackie as one of our most stylish First Ladies. I will give you Jill Biden dressed like shit sometimes (although I think she was well groomed) but come on. To throw Michelle in there with her and Barbara Bush just belies your partisan view.

Not the PP, but I agree with them. Michelle Obama had some horrendous fashion choices (and some great ones). To deny that just makes obvious who actually has the partisan view.

Her documentary explains that some of her fashion choices (I think the "school marm" stuff) was because she felt compelled to fit in a certain box. She faced a lot of blatant racism during Obama's election/presidency. Just FWIW.

Ooh I haven’t seen the documentary but I have read her book. But even without reading the book it’s obvious watching what she wears now that she was probably miserable wearing what she wore as FLOTUS (and I loved all of it, except maybe the first black and red election night dress.)

OMG, Jill Biden and her hideous floral dresses. That’s how I will always remember her White House “style” - terrible. Her feathered hair was so dated. And yes, I had (happily) forgotten about the fishnets and booties, but that outfit was probably the worst thing I’ve ever seen a SLOTUS or FLOTUS wear.

Just looking at this I feel like there's a huge weight dragging her torso down.

I think her fake boob removal surgery was botched. One of her boobs looks oddly shaped compared to the other. Maybe that's why she uses so much photoshop.

That dress is a wardrobe malfunction waiting to happen. It looks like something a Kardashian would wear.

Michelle Obama had so many great looks and nowhere near as many missteps and weird costumes as Melania.

+1 I hate a lot of what Michelle wears now but I can’t think of anything she wore in the White House that was inappropriate and I loved most of it.

I am the poster who said that Michelle, Melania, and Jackie Kennedy are our most stylish First Ladies and I stand by what I said! And no, I don't think it's partisan as another PP accused me of - two are Democrats and one is a Republican, so it's clearly not partisan at all.

I can't think of any major missteps Michelle made as First Lady. I remember a bit of manufactured outrage that she went sleeveless more than her predecessors but I hardly think sleeveless shift dresses are inappropriate. Saying she looked like a "school marm" as a PP did is ridiculous.

I also can't recall any major missteps Melania has made other than the Zara jacket and heels to a FEMA site. And I think those are less missteps and more she's a socialite who would rather be anywhere but here. I believe Melania's even admitted as much that the Zara jacket was specifically to piss Donald off, unless I interpreted her former assistant's comments about it incorrectly.

Here's the thing, they both wore/wear things I don't like. Michelle hasn't been FLOTUS in almost 10 years at this point so I barely remember specifics of her outfits I didn't like, but I do recall a weird high neck blouse that made her look like an alien, and in keeping with the extraterrestrial theme, I hated Melania's flying saucer inauguration hat lmfao.

Regardless, they both have a distinctive style, dressed age appropriately (they are/were on the younger side for First Ladies), know what colors/shapes look best on their bodies. They branched out and tried new things. They were both impeccably groomed.

Idk, I think they both have good personal style and are fashionable women. They have very different looks; Michelle was more sporty (her look has even kind of evolved now) and Melania is more glam, but they've both had pieces I would love to borrow lol.

Go find the part 1 version of this thread. Enjoy!

You have not followed Melania closely enough, she has had a lot of weird outfits:

- the I don’t care jacket
- the pith helmet in Africa
- the seemingly unlimited number of indoor coats, each more expensive than the last
- her love of military style blazers for any event.
- short tight pants with long roomy blazers
- that weird bubblegum pink dress with the gigantic puffy sleeves that she wore to the UN

Melania sent a clear message throughout the first term: I’m cold (literally), I’m rich, and I don’t want to be here. Even some of her better outfits and dresses have had some detail that is off. I’ve loved some of her looks but Michelle Obama had some wonderful looks that can’t be beat.

This term she is mostly not here, so I think she got what she wanted.
