I seriously doubt any sane prosecutor would make a plea deal without corroborating the details of the info given and making sure they can get a prosecution based on the info gotten in exchange for the deal. Otherwise the deal is completely worthless.

They don't need to trust him. They'll be able to corroborate what he tells them with lots of texts, emails, and testimony from the girls. The cooperator is just going to tell them where to look and who to talk to. He will never be on a witness stand.
