I wish someone warned me about the downsides before we joined. There are plenty of ppl with positive experiences, but those who are new and don't know the culture should have an idea what they are getting themselves into. It's a lot of money and time!

Dave Green (coach) coaching tactic is to mentally breakdown kids, too. Anyhow, your kid will almost 100% be placed on the white team, which is a HUGE drop in talent. 2008 is a crap year for Bethesda girls, if you can recall, an entire white team left and formed their own team years ago, and ever since, they haven't been able to hold a consistent white team, it's a revolving door. Also this coming year, white is planning on "borrowing" blue players for games and tournaments bc they don'thave enough players. If you are on white, you will never, ever, go to a blue practice or be asked to go to a game. Approach 2008 Bethesda with caution.

K. Layton took at least two girls from MRM last year to join his then U12G Blue/Fury team when he moved from MRM.

Sad to hear that D Green breakdowns kids too, but I bet most/all players will remain on the team since they are top ranked in this area.

The only reason they are top ranked is because they won the BSC tournament in the fall and changed the team name. The BSC tournament was watered down after previous year’s fiasco. Their record before the BSC tournament in pre ecnl play and tournaments play was pretty poor. That record is not reflected in their rankings. Also the 08’s blue team lost players the same year most of the white team left.
True re players and rank! Bethesda is very manipulative in both their front and back end actions and operations. Fury is a good team, but there are better options for player development than Bethesda in this area. And again, unless you have a personal contact at Bethesda or your child is standout good, don't count on getting on that team (even though there are good, but not standout players already on Fury). Maryland Rush has 2007 teams that will prob take a good 2008 player, and they are great at player development. I've heard good things about FCGB. Don't know about Potomac in that age bracket.

Lots of negative recruiting going on here. I wonder if it is a coincidence that BSC is holding tryouts starting this week. Hmmmm.

The 2 players that K. Layton brought are AMAZING and one in particular is a game changer for the team. Kids will stay with Dave Green even though I heard he's borderline abusive from several reliable sources. He has a reputation in this area, and is arrogant to boot. Bethesda has HUGE fundamental and organizational flaws, I wish they would be held accountable for many of their actions, but people keep on joining

I’m familiar with the two players. One is particularly very fast and aggressive.

Internacional is the name of the team formed by a dad of a former disgruntled player, and Pete Summersville (or something like that) is the coach. They play up in 2007 EDP 4th division I think.

How technical/skilled is the rising U13 Girls Team (Fury) coached by K Layton?

Because they don't want their DD to be constantly yelled at? Interesting that people discuss the girls winning. The boys academy focuses on individual development.

you mean CURSED at.

I don't know why parents put up with this type of atmosphere, especially in girls' sports. Time and again we have seen what happens to female athletes in a culture of power differential and tearing down of self esteem as part of training. Look at what happened in USA Gymnastics as an example.

Don’t believe anything they say if it’s not in writing. And right now there’s nothing firm in the contract about refunds.

nothing in the contract correct. but they do have it in writing and to the public about compensation if fall doesnt happen. of some sort at least.

"Please be assured that if there is a delayed start in the Fall or a stoppage in play, we will provide a fair financial adjustment for the 2020-2021 season. In addition, we are still accepting Scholarship Applications for next year as well."

Saying a "fair financial adjustment" is so imprecise that they can attach any number to it. Don't expect to get much back. McLean, for example, had no spring season and they only refunded 12 percent. I guess it is better than nothing.

Anyone that considers that “in writing” deserves to get screwed over.
