Also the Gulf states are big YIKES. I'd heard the Sheikh (King) of the UAE was hospitalized with coronavirus but I didn't believe it until I saw this map.

What's wrong with just being home or in the area one year?? Absolutely not the end of the world. Not asking to hide in a bunker but darn it just stay still!!)
My situation:
A friend of mine had spouse die. Unexpectedly.
Friend is struggling with it
I planned to go visit in Australia ages ago
Do I cancel on a close friend and bail?
Do I go because, frankly, the odds of getting sick are pretty low?
WWYD?

I’d rather be stuck in Paris than here. Flight is on time but wow the airport is desserted.
You’ll change your tune if you get sick overseas. Good luck finding your comfort foods over there.
It’s bloody France, not Tajikistan.

Cancel. Not even a question.
Asking seriously: how do I tell someone who is genuinely struggling with their loss this?
You be honest. “With the coronavirus I’m not comfortable traveling right now. I will reschedule the trip when things calm down.”
