To me this is just a permanent Get Out of Jail Free card for people who don't like what APS is proposing. The data will always be wrong and untrustworthy and not enough for some people. Have staff screwed up before? Sure. Will they make mistakes going forward? Sure. I thought they were pretty damn transparent this go around about the date they were using and what they've done to try to fix past errors.

I can tell you I trust APS staff more than the armchair warriors that put together the crazy alternative maps.

+1

Did you see the other maps? They further justified the moves.

I agree on this which is why I was pro-move this time, but I also worry that APS is not really spending the money on this that is needed. How many full time APS people are working on these data, and how much training they have, how good is their software, etc.?

I get the impression we are under-staffed on this. It doesn't mean we never do anything, but again, to me that's the credible reason you might actually want to delay it.

She probably knows nothing about it so can’t constructively weigh in...

Did any candidates come in out favor of the moves? I didn't seen any but maybe missed it.

I'm disappointed in those who came out in favor of no moves but I'm going to move on and vote based on other things. This is hardly the only issue in APS.

It's definitely not the only issue, but the school board made a choice that did what people have been saying they wanted - a holistic look a the county without caving to people wearing matching shirts. I would like new board members to be willing to do that on a multitude of issues.

Oh me too definitely but I don't think this leaves us anyone in the current pool to vote for.

I honestly question the judgment of anyone who was anti-move. I want people who can make decisions looking at the big picture and data, not listening to the loudest screamers. If they were anti-move, I worry they'll just listen to the next group of loud screamers.

Anyone who really dug into the data and paid attention to all the variables in play and removed the emotional/self-interest piece, I just don't see how they got to anti-move. Not encouraging.

+100 People want a board that is "responsive to the community" until it's responsive to a different part of the community. We need people who can take a big picture view and not be afraid to make some people angry.

So are there no candidates that supported the move?

Ugh. I will not vote for anyone who was anti-move.

It doesn't sound like Sandy Munnell or Symone Walker bothered to look into the data before weighing in, so...

I'm surprised by that. Her grandchildren go to Ashlawn, which would have been impacted the most if the moves didn't happen.

It is a brief, wishy washy statement that she probably made to appease the riled up Key crowd who have set their sights on the SB race.
