I don't put blame on the wife. She had to leave for the kids. They are nice kids, very young also. Thomas was probably terrible to her and she stayed for the kids.

Wife making a speedy getaway is creepy. She avoided questioning under oath. Or it would have been reported that she cooperated with investigators. Shame on her.

I have no idea if she is complicit. First, though, what evidence do you have that she "refused to talk to authorities?" If she did, it may well be that she consulted her own attorneys and was advised to keep her mouth shut. That would be standard advice.

Second, fleeing to Japan doesn't mean she's guilty. I'm divorced and haven't lived with my ex-H for many years. However, if he was accused of something like this, I would grab my kids and run to TO PROTECT MY KIDS. I mean what do you expect her to do? Going on living in the apartment complex where he allegedly molested the kids?!!! So many people in this thread think she's complicit. Do you really think she and her kids would be safe if they stayed there?!!! Should she send her kids back to their DCPS school where all the other parents and teachers and many of the kids have heard these allegations? You really think nobody would say something horrible to the kids? Do you think that the parents of their friends are going to let them continue to socialize with these children? Or do you think it's more likely that even if the school kept them safe they would end up alone in the lunchroom or on the playground? Do you really think there would be no paparazzi hanging around trying to get photos of her and the kids?

Her number one priority right now is probably the safety of her own children. She probably thinks they'll be safer in Japan and she may have family there who will help her care for the kids. Going to Japan in these circumstances is not evidence of guilt.

wife is clearly somewhat complicit, given that she refused to talk to authorities and fled to japan. But the should be executed comment went too far, and was admittedly intended as dark humor. This family's behavior is just extremely upsetting.

No, not at all. I lived there a couple years ago, so I can’t vouch for how it is now, but it was a good place for families. The apartments are spacious with good closet space and in bounds for a good school (Eaton). Plus there’s a nice pool.

Obviously, I can’t say why they were there, but there were/are lots of international families there who were in DC for assignments with embassies, news organization, the world bank, etc. They would not have stood out.

It's a huge building with lots of families (right, that was your point, easy access to many kids). You may be right.

+1, this is the max penalty for a first-degree child sexual abuse offense in DC, if the circumstances meet the criteria (e.g., victim under age 12).
