So it’s better to just keep throwing money away all over the world?
We don't just "keep throwing money away all over the world." The US doesn't (the last 5 weeks notwithstanding) spend money that isn't in its national interest. All of those programs in Africa to feed people, provide medical care, dig wells etc. bring those people and countries to our side. Now China is going to step in. We've not only hurt people in the short term, like people no longer being able to access their AIDS drugs, we have completely destroyed our reputation. Nobody will trust the US word again for a very long time.
We can see all of this happening in real time. Five eyes isn't going to give us intelligence because why would anyone trust that Tulsi isn't giving the wrong people our allies intelligence? We have now sided with Putin over Ukraine and the Europeans. We are alienating our allies and cozying up to our enemies.
I will never understand how/why the Republicans in Congress aren't screaming about this. I have to believe that it isn't only a primary they fear but that Trump's goons that he pardoned have issued threats to them or to their families. If they don't genuinely fear for their health or safety, then they are just sick people.
It does make you wonder why career federal government employees care so much more about democracy than your average national level elected official.
Chis Murphy and Jamie Raskin notwithstanding.
But, in keeping with the thread, I will pay my FAFO tax:

Faye Nemer, CEO and founder of the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) American Chamber of Commerce in Dearborn, Michigan, called the video "offensive and counterproductive to peace talks" in a statement to NPR.
Nemer, who says she voted for Trump in November, is calling on him to remove the video and issue a "reconciliatory statement."
When asked about the video and the president's messaging about Gaza, the White House reinforced his previous statements.
IMO the Muslims who cared about Gaza who did not support Biden are the ultimate FAFO. We warned them over and over that Trump was going to be worse for Gaza than Harris, but they did not want listen. They FAFO.
This I have some friends who live in Michigan and I have absolutely zero compassion for anyone of Middle Eastern descent or anyone who cared about Palestine and voted for Trump.. ... They were very simplistic and short-sighted in their vote and I really do not care what happens to them or Gaza at this point

She is 24. Did she vote for him the first time around? he didn't come through on any of his promises that time either. He gave tax cuts to the rich.
And that is going to be his main legislative focus this time as we have already seen. He already showed you who he was and you just refused to listen.

Make it make sense. She voted for a known misogynist against a woman who didn’t get to have her own biological children and is an adoptive mom?
So potentially free IVF for her while Handmaids Tale for all women?

100%
Interesting that on this thread there is compassion for a 20 something white woman who voted for Trump because she struggles with infertility, which is something that a lot of people on this board have experienced.
But no compassion for people who may have had dozens of friends and family members killed in Gaza and voted for Trump in the hope of a hail mary that it would stop the killing of the people that they love.
If Trump was your hail Mary, you had to know that war was over before it even started
