They do it all day every day. Spend some time on the Mt Vernon trail and you’ll see tons of helicopters - Army, Marines, Air Force, and Coast Guard all run helicopters up and down the river for training. Sometimes you’ll see a police helicopter (DC or Park Police) but they usually have a good reason to be there.
Yep. I live in Arlington and drive to and from DC every day- right along and across the Potomac We have seen more helicopters than usual lately. Yesterday at 2:30pm we were driving in to pick up my kid and my husband noted the giant military helicopter - over head—bigger than what we usually see
Is this due to the new dipsh@ts running things?

Why does it matter how many flights are in/out? This has nothing to do with that.
It has a hell of a lot to do with that. Stop gaslighting. The airport is not being run safely. This is the logical consequence.

Last week I assumed they were flying frequently and low maybe related to the Inauguration but it’s been nearly every night. Also, maybe not a smart idea to try to intimidate FAA staff into resignation. Air traffic controllers are federal staff afterall.
In Bethesda and I’ve been noticing this too!! Yesterday I saw a military-looking helicopter flying really low over Sangamore, and then curved, like sort of swooping over the neighborhood. I remember thinking wtf is that guy doing? I do see a lot of helicopters and planes overhead generally but never seen anything like that before.

National to Wichita. That airport is too congested.
I feel awful for the poor ATCs

I have read that some developmental figure skaters were on the flight coming back from the national championships. Their coaches etc.
This is so very very tragic.
They’re all buckled in their seats, exploded low over the river, and sunk in the river.
Any survivor would be a miracle, maybe where the plane broke apart and they unbuckled fast.
I pray it was instantaneous and before the plane hit the river.
If you watch the video, it burst into flames right before it hit the water. It was 3-5 minutes from landing. Those poor passengers were busy getting ready to get off the plane. Breaks my heart.
Can you imagine being on the plane that took off seconds before the crash? I’m sure they saw it.
Mayor Bowser is a horrible speaker.

All due to selfish positions wanting less travel time
they need to shut that airport down. or lessen the flights
Why the hell are you doing night training missions in a super busy airport at night too? Why not somewhere else?
