There are very few genuine “swing” voters left at this point, particularly in the close states that matter.

There are lots of moderates who need to hold their nose and vote. Picking Vance makes them much less likely to do it for Trump.

Some of them just won’t vote. It sucks but I could see voter turnout being lower than in 2020.
