This extension would seem like a good thing, except the bill has seemed to have little impact, crime has only accelerated since June, especially carjackings, car thefts and ADWs.

The turning point of DC was covid shut down and the anything goes mentality with the marches and the anti all police all the time and the slimy politicians on both sides capitalizing on it. Lots of government to blame here. You give people an inch and they take three yards. Sadly, I don’t see an end. Bowser is big part of the problem - painting streets was the last time I saw her in the news 24/7. Where has she been of late?

For a city so dependent on tourism...this is, not good.

Damn, so many things were on a good trajectory for a minute - Columbia Heights, DCPS, Gallery Place, The Wharf/Navy Yard...

Rep. Henry Cuellar was carjacked right outside a dorm building in which dozens or more House members live, per an alert sent to the members.

3-4 men held guns to his head, they took his phone and his car as he was parked on the street, the alert says.

Trying to post this again. Several men held guns to his head. It happened right outside his apartment building, one where so many members live it's called "The Dorm."

His car has been recovered. Thank goodness he was not shot. Had to be utterly terrifying.
