Anyone else worried Putin will attack during the Super Bowl to grab attention?

Meanhwil, other countries want to block expansion of a military buildup near its borders while the US cries about annexation and oppression. The USA lectures countries about ethnic cleansing while they did the same to Hawaiians and Native Americans.

Talk about 2 faced hypocrisy. How easily Americans forget how much annexation they've done.

We don’t forget and we don’t rewrite history. But we do evolve and learn from past mistakes. What part of history are you struggling with? Perhaps I can help.

Sure, we might not rewrite history, we just write over indigenous peoples of sovereign nations like Hawaii so they we can turn their land into a tourist destination for golfing and going to the beach. Then we have the chutzpah to lecture everyone else on genocide, annexation, and freedoms.

I read some of these posts and am dumbfounded by those that condone Putin’s actions. I just don’t understand what service Fox News, it’s opinion folks, and the Trumpers believe they’re offering America. Everything is ripped from context and is revisionist. Can someone briefly translate their nuttiness?

Lol, Russia isnt trying to "block expansion of a military buildup near its borders. That would be Ukraine and NATO. Russia is the one engaging in an "expansion of a military buildup" near the borders of Ukraine, Romania, Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia.

It would be an interesting world if this was all true. Maybe we could just say buzz off to the world. Secure the southern border. Navy only defending the coasts. But it does not work like that. What happens in Europe matters in Denver or Los Angeles or Arlington. Same with China. Russia is out for no good and someone has to stop them. We are the only sheriff on the planet. Some people don't like that and we are often not good at it. But there it is. Putin F'd this up. He has to invade for domestic reasons. It will destroy his economy. He will then feel compelled to take out some NATO countries so he can trade with us -- there is the war. Russia's military can't face us if we want to fight. Iraq was in better shape to fight us. They could go nuclear but that is unlikely because we would respond. This is a mess. Putin could back off and avoid this if we gave him something big. But I doubt we will. This is the most dangerous time in the last 40 years. And we have an over the hill President and a VP that does not read briefing books or memos and otherwise has no idea what is going on. And that is a vast improvement over what we had last administration.

If America were a sheriff, it’d be brutal, corrupt and incompetent. And bad with money too.

2020 called. They said you belong back there.

Yes because American performance overseas post 2020 has been, like, a model of frugality, efficiency and integrity.

Oh wait...

WH pool: A White House official tells your pooler:

President Biden's call with President Zelenskyy has concluded. They spoke from 1106 – 1157 EST

I am willing to bet that Biden didn't try to extort Zelenskyy for US and NATO protection.

Anonymous wrote:Is the fact that Biden has not appointed an ambassador to Ukraine at all relevant to any of this?

It is bizarre that there is only an interim/acting ambassador and it has been this way since 2019.

Steven Pifer, a former U.S. ambassador in Ukraine, said that the current chargé d’affaires in Kyiv, Kristina Kvien, “is doing a superb job.” Ted Cruz and company would probably just block Biden’s nominee anyway.

Have fun with a kneecapped ability to make chips:

Russia has a ton of ammonium nitrate too. Russia could blow up US inflation even more by disrupting chip supplies by blocking critical materials needed to manufacture them, and by making food prices a lot more expensive by making fertilizer shortages.

Might not be a picnic for the U.S., but Russia's economy is laughably insignificant compared to the U.S. Maybe it could've turned into a real competitor once the Soviet Union collapsed. But Putin and his oligarchs have been smashing and grabbing for decades. Corruption has left the place a hollowed out shell.
