Many already have players in various age groups doing this anyway so it won’t really change much for them and possibly makes games more competitive etc. it also fits the non pro MLSN clubs as at the end of the day especially at the older age groups none of these kids will essentially be professional players and will all go to college.
When MLSN Academy plays up this season and gets destroyed by the older P2P team, which makes the only selling point of P2P MLSN pointless. You can already guess that P2P MLSN will almost certainly go to SY.
Nope, what will happen is if MLS stays BY MLS clubs will host their own BY tournaments and not participate in SY tournaments. ECNL and other SY leagues will be invited to atrend but they'll need to play against BY teams that are 6 months older.

Tournaments are not now nor have they ever been an issue in mlsn staying BY. There are other difficulties, but tournaments aren’t one of them.

BY or SY teams playing against each other someone would be playing up 6 months. This is an important difference. It means that in BY tournamants SY teams would be playing up 6 months and vice versa.
Which isnt that big of a deal.

Do they really form teams for these young age groups 9 months before the season starts or is this more like a pool of players? 2020s are 5.

FWIW this was announced 6 days ago, a lot can change in a week.
What a mess, mlsn is really putting clubs in a tough spot not having a decision. They probably don’t want to convert their younger ages unless they are certain mlsn is going SY.
