That looks official! I wonder how they felt comfortable making that "announcement" with MLSNext making it first? Looks like the question is answered. MLSN to SY!!
The date is mainly for SoCal team. It is club's decision if they want to form an ECNL or MLSN team by that time, as those top teams tryout is year around. I do agree MLSN needs to announce their intention before Feb as the SoCal 2012-2014 tryout and most players for ECNL or MLSN 2012-2014 teams will be formed.
Clubs want to know the mlsn decision before they form their youth teams. I expect our club to keep some BY teams even at the youngest ages if mlsn is BY so as not to deal with the BY to SY transition at u12/u13 every year.
If MLSN stays in BY, then top team of the pre MLS will be BY and play up in the local league, should not be an issue, but what a hassle.

Ehh the City FAQ is still up saying mlsn is BY. I want an announcement just as bad as everyone else I just don’t think this is it.

True. But if u13/14 tryouts start 2/23 mlsn needs to announce a decision soon. It’s also looks like their entire feeder system will be SY.
